Box at Beer knir. Thin body, but flavourful. Low carbo. Medium tartness, light sourness. Medium red winey, actually nice, tannic, intense, rich wine character. Actually eclipsing the beer wildness, which is light. Interesting, drinkable. Good.

Bottle. Color: Slightly hazy golden, white head. A lot of tiny carbonation bubbles going up in the glass. Aroma: Citrus fruit, rural funk, some tartness. Taste: Moderate to over moderate tartness, fruity citrus fruit (orange, tangerine, some lime), some wood and hints of old hop, minerals. Dry-ish finish. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Very light bitterness. Only light hints of salt, don't know if I would have recognized it when it wouldn't have been stated on the label.
Nice, refreshing.

After hunting this for a while, I had to give up - seemingly an Italy only release, though this is just based on where i found it was (or is) sold and rated. I was more than happy to be surprised with a webshop i've never heard of from Antwerp (Gastrobeer) having it in stock, found whilst hunting a different beer. Yay !

So, 2021 edition, bought and sampled in june 2025 - some years but not too much given the style of beer it is. Pours slightly unclear blonde, medium small, medium low stability white head. Scent is straight up Oud Beersel, now with a bit more emphasis on the oak - which doesn't show much of the wine to me, more woody. Sure, some wine can be found, but it's either very low intensity, or my mind is fooling me because I know it should be there. Or both ! Taste is sharp, and a bit more acidic than the average oud beersel. Of course it has the great things an OB geuze always has - the ripe and full apple aroma that makes them unique, the soft yet assetive funk,.. All with a bit more woody notes, and again, very little of the wine. It's a pretty solid beer - but that's just the Oud beersel geuze - the barrel isn't as pronounced as I had hoped it to be, to justify the name and special release I simply expected it a bit more up front. Guess I'm 'just' drinking a (delicious) Oude Geuze ;)

Sample from jerrycan at Carnivale Brettanomyces 2025, John Versyck blending workshop. Didn't take many notes, just enjoyed good beers and good company. What I do remember: Almost 4 years old, of which around 2 years in jerrycan. Hazy, horse stable, citrus, subtle lemon, bit grainy, wood, dry, some leather, hints of peach.

750ml from De Bierschuur @ 🏡 with Ryan and Alex.
Aroma: a lot of funk, some pleasant acidity, a little bit of sweetness.
Taste: along the same lines, kinda aggressive bit more bold and sweet than many gueuzes.
Overall: very good.

Bag in box at Delirium, Brussel. It pours clear golden with a bubbly white head. The aroma is musty,.funky, dirty, barnyard filth, red fruits, rhubarb, vinous, damp hay and salt & vinegar crisps. The taste is firmly dry, puckering, zingy, lactic twang, granny smith apple, rhubarb, tannin, sherbet, fizzy cola bottles, florals, fragrant, lemon - lime, sherbet and some enamel rip. Finish is fairly soft actually and mellow with some damp funk. Medium body and soft carbonation. Rounded and moreish. Works quite well.

A hazed golden lambic with a very thin white head. In aroma, nice fruity malt with light horse blanket, light Epsom salts, light acidity, very nice. In mouth, a nice mix of ground cherry, light lactic notes, horseblanket, light black pepper and faint rosewater. On tap at Mondial 2025.

Tap at Beergeek. Pretty dry, classic in this way. Low carbo though, pity. Medium sourness, light tartness. Medium barnyard funk, pretty complex though, and pleasant. Nuanced, well balanced, nothing overwhelms. The ABV is hidden EXTREMELY well, feels like your classic lambic. Very elegant, very good.
