Slightly hazy amber coloured body with an orange glow, a frothy tan head and a bunch of small bubbles - this IS what an IPA should look like! Aroma of fresh hops, caramel, pine, flowers and a lot of fresh apricots - this is very nice. Medium-bodied. Strong chewy malt up front with good hops and a lot of nuts and alcohol following behind. Aftertaste shows a ton of pine, some flowers and more malt than hops - a bit wierd there. Overall, a great IPA by look and smell, but the taste loses something and it feels too rich and malty for an IPA. I still liked it, but prefer more traditional IPAs. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from BottleWorks in Seattle, Washington on 11-November-2008, sampled at home in Washington DC on 08-December-2008.

Pours clear brilliant gold with thin white head. The aroma has full notes of sugary malts, apple, light colored fruits and some flower pedals. The taste begins with a pulse of sweet and roasty malts followed by apricots and apples and moving toward harsher fruit notes. It then returns back to roastiness into the finish.

Brown color, thin creamy head. It has caramel and hop aroma, quite perfumy, a bit fruity. The mouthfeel is quite round, but the body not too strong, with a good caramel flavor, turning into chocolate, and an average bitterness, but the hop quality are not impressive. Also the final is not very long, yet quite balanced with the caramel; at 25 IBU, difficult to expect more. Quite solid, no thrills.

Amber color. Malt and light hops, with a strange vegetable flavor. It could use more spice. Low carbonation.

2007 Bottle. Pours an ultra thick viscousness, with a very tight, creamy, light brown head that leaves good lacing. Hazy amber body with a few particles floating. Decent retention. Aroma is room filling, sticky-sweet caramel, pine and pitted fruits. Taste is a bit toasty upfront, strong alcohol, piney, caramel and very sticky overall. Some berries, smoke and a bitter more bitterness as it warms. Mouthfeel is super syrupy, and again, sticky, nearly chewy mouthfeel... like maple syrup. Very warming. Nearly to sticky and warming to be enjoyable...nearly. 12oz might be better than the 22oz bomber I had.

22oz bomber. Deep choco-brown color. Big, foamy beige head. Fruity, fresh aroma, a hint of sourness. Should be categorized as a Belgian Dubbel. Smooth and mild for the style, this is quite a nice beer. Clean and refreshing. while still displaying some classic Dubbel characteristics. Has a more standard carbonation/mouthfeel, not Belgian-like there I suppose. Rich brown sugar, chocolate, and caramel tones. Great beer.

12oz bottle. Orange-tan color, filtered assumably. Hops and alcohol aroma. Lots of chewy hop character. Excellent WIPA. Orange nuances in there, as well as some fresh hop characteristics. Classic Seattle beer.
