Description
Two guys born and raised in Croydon met shortly before the London riots in 2011 at a beer festival, and found they both were having thoughts about starting up a new brewery in the area. After nearly a year of test brewing,
planning and trying to find financial backing, The Cronx Brewery was formed in 2012.
In 2016 the Cronx Bar was opened in Boxpark Croydon. Run by a great team, the bar always has a wide selection of real ales and craft beers available.
‘The Cronx’ is a portmanteau of Croydon (Or it’s postcode; CR0) and The Bronx, and has been used as an affectionate tongue in cheek reference to the often much maligned London Borough we call home.
Closed in 2024. In 2925 the brewery site and equipment taken over by Titsey Brewery to use as a 2nd location. Subsequent Cronx beers startes to be brewed again.

Bottle at Googies Folkestone. Hazy orange amber colour lasting ivory head. Quite a tangerine grapefruit apa. Tasty hops no doubt tangerine followed by some caramel malt. Some bitterness on the finish very drinkable. Enjoyable. Sessionable my kind of beer. Good.

Cask gravity at Croydon Craft 2016. It pours hazy orange with minimal head. The aroma is sweet, juicy, mango, orange sponge cake, candy and tinned fruits. The taste is bitter - sweet, mango, tinned peach, apricot, black tea, wood, tannins and mild tartness with a drying finish. Medium body and limited carbonation. Needs more carbonation, but overall I like the balance.

Cask gravity at Croydon Craft 2016. It pours black with minimal head. The aroma is rich, chewy, roasted malt, coffee, malt loaf and cooking chocolate. The taste is bitter, rich roasted malts, chewy, coffee grounds, dark fruits, liquorice, cocoa with a dry, roasted finish. Medium body and low carbonation. Pretty punchy and flavoursome, but lacks condition. A bit more carbonation would lift this.
