Description
Two guys born and raised in Croydon met shortly before the London riots in 2011 at a beer festival, and found they both were having thoughts about starting up a new brewery in the area. After nearly a year of test brewing,
planning and trying to find financial backing, The Cronx Brewery was formed in 2012.

In 2016 the Cronx Bar was opened in Boxpark Croydon. Run by a great team, the bar always has a wide selection of real ales and craft beers available.

‘The Cronx’ is a portmanteau of Croydon (Or it’s postcode; CR0) and The Bronx, and has been used as an affectionate tongue in cheek reference to the often much maligned London Borough we call home.

Closed in 2024. In 2925 the brewery site and equipment taken over by Titsey Brewery to use as a 2nd location. Subsequent Cronx beers startes to be brewed again.

Cask at the moon under water Watford. Dark reddy brown / black coloured pour with a steadfast creamy tan head. Aroma is dark cocoa powder, dry roasted coffee, musty, sweet lactose. Flavour is composed of milky choc, roasted barley, smooth cream and then the heat kicks in, tingling on the lips and warming the back of the throat. Palate is full and milky, smooth, nitro feel. A little lactose sweetness. Lingering choc and earhy pepper. I like that this has a good chilli kick to it, but still has a good balance. Chilli choc works pretty well.

Cask at the Kings Arms, Waterloo, 20/01/15. Black with a decent tan covering. Nose is chilli spice, green pepper, chocolate, charred notes. Taste comprises quite a chilli kick, dark malt, dark chocolate, spice, earthy, molasses. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, chilli burn in the close. Pretty big chilli kick but overall a good balance, definately enough spice to tip away from porter as a style on this one!

Cask at The Willow Walk, Victoria, London. A straw coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, ripe tropical fruit aroma. Tastes similar, hoppy, malty, ripe tropical fruit, some grapefruit, slight bitterness. Very good, definitely the best I’ve had so far from Cronx.

Tasting at Leighton’s Flat. Thanks to Paul. Hazy amber beer, big fluffy pale cream colour head. Airy palate, semi dry, mild fine carbonation. Light malts, little creamy sweetness. Yep! Saltled caramel - loud and clear. Tangy. Finishes airy and semi dry with a more accentuated savoury note. Interesting beer!
