Description
Cider done right. That means delicious West Country cider made from fresh apple juice, using the best locally-sourced apples. Founded in 2002, we are independent, family-owned and very proud to be based in the oldest working cider mill in the UK, breathing life back into the old building. Our home in the heart of Devon is the perfect micro-climate to grow cider apples and we are blessed with some of the finest bittersweet apple orchards in the world. We press and ferment whole juice from the finest locally sourced fruit, never from concentrate. No artificial flavours or aromas, simply the best natural ingredients, and then let it age to perfection. No shortcuts. The result? Delicious, beautifully balanced and naturally refreshing cider.

Bottle at home split with Sarah. Picked up from Marks and Spencer. A clear brushed golden orange coloured pour with a halo of white head. Aroma is semi sweet, bruised apple, hints of brown sugars, plummy notes, pear, eaeth. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, little thin, woody apple, alcohol warmth, oaky tannin, salty note. Palate is semi sweet, highish carbonation. Decent.

Bottle from Morrisons Supermarket, Skipton. Golden with a light carbonation. Has some sweetness to its light apple, but does not linger in its aftertaste, where it gets somewhat dry. Has a fair aroma.

660ml bottle from National Brewery Centre, Burton on Trent. Pours a lightly misty golden yellow. Fruity Tremletts on the nose. Taste presents a sharp woody astringency coursing throughout with noticeably fruity elements coming into play, soft tannins emerging, gentle carbonation. Good SV showcase.

On 23rd Jan 2020 I decided to change all my 34 'ticks' for no-beers into rates. Every 'tick' scored a '3', this will not change as they become 'rates'. My 'ticks' were Ciders, Meads, Perrys and Sake. This is a cider!

2017 Bottle from National Brewery Centre, Burton on Trent. Golden appearance. Fresh and fruity nose. Taste is rich, pure Yarlington Mill with a nice natural tannic fuzz. Whole leaves from a Sweet Alford tree were added before fermentation with the aim of maximising flavour. There's certainly a lot here, an excellent SV showcase, but it's hard to tell the real difference without lining up another next to it.

22/5/2019. From Bag in a Box at The Dove Street Inn Spring Festival, Ipswich. Pours cloudy pale yellow gold with minimal white bubbles. Aroma of semi tart apples, farmyard, light sulphur and tannins. Light to moderate sweetness, and light tartness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, soft to flat carbonation. Dry slightly tart finish with a bit of washing up water. Not one of the better ones at the festival.
