Description

Hefiger, bananig getreidiger Antrunk. Milde, konstant bleibende Herbe. Feine Karbonisierung, spritzig. Vollmundig, deutlich hefig bleibend, erfreulich wenig süß. Langer, rund hefig-trockener Nachhall. Gut! 10/12/11/11/8/11

330 ml. bottle. BBF 14.12.2018. Not entirely sure as to what style this beer is supposed to be. Very mild gusher. Pours a dark brown faint wine hue, little tanned head, mostly just some patches & bubbles on the side. Nose is varnish, furniture, overripe dark fruit, leaves, some oxidation, oxidized malts, sweet syrup & indeed vague sherry as promised by the label (I might have misinterpreted the label since I don’t know German). Taste is low licorice, sweet cooked apple malt, bitter leaves, caramel, raisin, sugar, figs, syrup, low umami, gummy bears, low herbs, some oxidation notes, dash of hazelnut,… Sparkling fading carbonation. There seem to be minor issues here, it is a bit messy but the raisin, fig, brown sugar, caramel etc. are not bad, pleasant sweetness. It carries some similarities to a vintage strong Belgian. Intriguing, it is messy & imperfect, there are definitely elements to enjoy here. It isn’t particularly easy to drink. It isn’t an intriguing one and I definitely found things to enjoy here.
