Description
SOBREMESA Drinks is a multidisciplinary enterprise creating terroir-driven farmhouse beers and natural ciders as well as growing organic soft fruits to flavour the drinks. We started our cider adventure in 2021 and pressed our first batch at Lower Porthamel in 2022. In January 2022 we planted one acre of organic soft fruits at Racquety Farm, Hay-on-Wye. Our beer journey actually started ten years ago, and has taken us from Wales to Spain and back again, bringing together the best of both worlds.
The main goal for SOBREMESA Drinks in the long term is to play a part in changing the current food system, by making drinks in a more sustainable way that prioritises short supply chains, local produce and the Welsh terroir.
We ferment our beers and ciders in a converted barn at Lower Porthamel, a working farm where grass fed livestock roam on the pastures.

Can bought at Blas ar Fwyd, Llanrwst. Opaque light gold. Thick fluffy foamy white head attempts to escape the confines of the glass. Aroma has sour vinous edged citrus over bready malts. Sherbert and sweet honey and yeast. Flavourwise it has a tart citrus streak alongside sweet honeyed fruit. Underlying chewy malts. Somehow restrained. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation
. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Easy drinking Grisette.

Can bought at Blas ar Fwyd, Llanrwst. Dark and glossy. Mahoosive foamy beige head. Aroma has milky coffee and porridge. Flavourwise it then ramps things up, combining espresso, liqourice and dark tangy berries. Bitter and chewy with a sour edge. Light-medium bodied. Slick to creamy. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Good stuff.

75cl bottle @ Belgian Beer Geeks Autumn Gathering 2025. Pours a deep pink, largely clear unless you got a little of the gunk at the bottom. Excellent fruitiness from the berries.. unexpected sharp wild side that subsides somewhat towards the end.. not much saison expression, but a lovely fruity beer offering a nice chuckleberry showcase.

Bottle shared at BBGG. Bit hazy very dark pink. Massive fruit with red currants, cassis and raspberry. Light earthy, grapes, soft peppery, maybe a hint of malt but it's mostly fruit. Medium sweet and sour. Solid medium body.

18/X/25 - 75cl bottle @ BBGG Fall ‘25 (home), BB: n/a (handwritten label, no dates) (2025-1034) Thanks to minutemat for sharing the bottle!
Pretty clear to slightly cloudy reddish beer, small creamy light pink head, a little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: lovely, super fruity, lots of raspberries, blueberry jam, a little funky, very nice! MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very fruity, lots of berries, raspberry and blueberry jam, very sourish, gentle bitterness. Aftertaste: more bitter, some tannins, earthy, nice, acidic finish.

Bouteille 75cl à Belgian Summer Beer Gathering, merci Matt.

Can bought at Blas ar Fwyd, Llanrwst. Slightly opaque copper gold. Foamy head. A tad translucent. Aroma is chewy, malty. Sweet influenced citrusy edge. A tad metallic. Flavourwise it's tangy citrus led. Quite tart. Even vinous. Underlying malts. And then more tang. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Chalky residue. Soft-flat carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Punchy Pils. Potentially a tad too punchy.
