Creamy tan head on a still black body. Roasted, liquorice & citrussy aroma. Medium bodied, foamy & dry on the thinning back. Roasted, chocolate, liquorice & malt tastes with a tangy finish. Decent Porter.

Bottle at home, picked up from the Co-Op in Honeybourne, 04/03/23. Clear golden blonde with a white cap that thins to a swirl Nose is grass, melon, floral, pale malts, light breads. Taste comprises citric sherbets, light breads, grass, toasted grains, melon, lemon nip, tangerine. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close splashed with mellow hop bitterness. Passable affair .. a Golde dressed up as an APA ... a bit 'trad' and boring and lacking the hop dynamic associated with the advertised style.

Cask at Alexandra, Derby – though I’ve had it several times before. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small off-white head. The aroma has roast malts and dark fruits. In the mouth it is slightly sweet with a fruity texture. Roast malts and liquorice to the fore in the flavour, plus some traces of cola. Finish is fruity. Decent, but lacking anything that makes it stand out from the crowd.

Handpull cask at the Brickyard, Carlton. Dark brown but thin and very translucent. A small beige head on top. Herbal and malty aroma. The bubblegum certainly jars. Taste is better but a little too sweet and the bubblegum doesn't really work. Luckily it fades and leaves a nice herbal bitterness for the finish. Not 100% convinced about this one.
