Cask from the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. A mahogany brew with a beige head and a mild frothy fizz. Tiffee and dry wood and cream up front, sweetness develops with raisins coming through. A little pepper in the finish. Nice to have an old ale, it's a style I like but which has become hard to find.

On cask at The Grafton, Kentish Town. Pours clear pale golden with a white head. Aroma: citrus, overtly grapefruit, floral hop. Taste: light sweet & bitter, pale bread, lemon, grapefruit, grass. Light to medium body, soft carb, light dry finish. Not bad at all.

Cask at Waterloo Tap. Malty oaty chocolate and coffee aroma. Dark. Cola brown in the light. Thin bubbly beige head. Sweet with some low key sour milk and berries sourness. Light bodied. Thin if slick. Flat-average carbonation. Slightly astringent finish. The sweetness doesn't quite mask the sour milk element. OK but flawed.

Bottle from Garsons Farm shop. Initial four berry aroma smooths out with honey sweetness and mocha. Dark but the cola tint lends it a thin appearance. Creamy beige head is blotchy. Light sour with honey edge. Then develops a sweetness which is tempered by chocolate coffee. Underlying malts come through into the finish. Medium bodied. Light creaminess. Slightly astringent finish. Wouldn't want to drink too many as the honey mixed with the bitterness gives it a sicklyness but enjoyable in small doses.

Cask at The Pennsylvanian (Wetherspoons), Rickmansworth, Herts. A black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Roasty, malty, caramel, chocolate aroma and taste. Really nice condition and very moreish.

Third, gravicask, shared with Finn at Twickenham Beer and Cider Festival. Black in the glass, naked at the top, spotty lacing. Grainy chocolate nose, inviting. Taste of chocolate malts and a backdrop of dried fruits. Mid-sweet malty end. Satisfying. (24.10.2019).

Hal-pint, cask ale, shared with Finn at William Webb Ellis (JDW). Clear copper brown body, spotty lacing, film-type layer. Slightly roasted dark malts on the nose, hints of dark fruits. Caramel taste added by moments of stewed fruits. Bittersweet tail. Pretty nice. (Twickenham 24.10.2019).

Cask@Railway, Streatham Common (17/10/2019) - amber red with a off white head. Fruity and malty with notes of citrus fruit, some marmalade notes, sweet caramel biscuity malty backing, herbal twiggy bitter close.
