330ml can. Opalescent, yellow-ish, golden colour with small to average, frothy, diminishing, white head. Relatively weak, slightly grainy, minimally strawy malty, slightly fruity and minimally grassy hoppy and minimally yeasty fruity aroma, hints of green apple, minerally overtones. Taste is slightly grainy, pale malty, moderately bitter, slightly fruity and mininmally grassy, hoppy and minimally yeasty fruity, hints of grass, a touch of green apple, pear, a touch of pineapple.
Oily-watery texture, smooth and soft, minimally greasy palate, medium, scattered, mildly prickly carbonation.
Rather cautious aroma, relatively fruity taste, not overly refreshing - so-so.

In my opinion, it is a great beer, perfect for the style with solid notes of oat, roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, a perfect nectar, 09.04.18, at Prélaz.

0.375 l bottle from 'Hetbiermoment.nl', best before March 2030. Slightly hazy, deep reddish amber with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, sourish, gently fruity and a little funky aroma of caramel, vinegar, rhubarb and light brett. Gently sweet, moderately sour, quite fruity and slightly funky taste of caramel, vinegar, rhubarb, lemon, some honey and light brett, followed by a medium long, gently tart, a little dry finish. Medium body, gently astringent and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Decent sour, not too sour but a little too vinegary, other than that pleasant flavours overall.

On tap at Oproer brewpub, Utrecht Friday 9th January 2026, after a long wet walk from the hotel via De Kromme Harring (not open until 4pm, schoolboy error 😐) then into town, we visited Eetcafé de Poort first, then DeRat. Pours straw coloured with a hint of haze, mid sized white head. Fresh, sort of crisp but could be better, clean and whilst there's some bitterness it could be better, again quite good possibly the best so far Score 6.9

Pours light/mid gold with only a tiny haze, mid sized white head. There is a hint of butter on the nose but it's only a touch. Mouthfeel is good, tastes fine, however not resinous or bitter enough to truly feel like a proper Westy. Score 6.6
