Tap @ Boulder Strong Ale Fest 2013. Pours a dark reddish orange appearance with a tan head. Light garbage, caramel, somewhat sugary aroma. The flavor also had a hint of veggies and garbage with other notes of toasted malts, sweetness, and light fruits. One of my least favorite beers of the fest.

Sampled under the name of Cambridge Brewing The Audacity of Hops CBC Belgian Style Double IPA, and following the label, it’s NOT brewed at Mayflower B.C., but at Mercury Brewing, Ipswich... Thick, creamy, yellow-cream coloured head over lively carbonated hazy orange beer. Intense hops’ nose upon pouring, but also something roasted, even scorched. Quite dusty nose, too, as something forgotten for a loooong time. Bitter taste with citrusflavours, but the kind of citrus found in soft drinks. Bit metallic in the finish, slight CO2 sourishness, blending with the citrusstreak. Long metallic-bitter aftertaste, bit annoying. Medium bodied, very (hopoil) slick. Hops are there. Brewing date is june 2012, so all is well there too - yet it tastes as if its ingredients have been covered with dust since that CBC in ’09.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of straw and citrus fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw, lemons, and brettanomyces, leading to a dry finish. Thanks pinball for sharing.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a hazy golden with a lacing white head. Tart, Bretty nose - but also salty and minerally, biscuits and baking yeast. Medium body, a dry fruitiness, very salty with loads of yeast and chemicals. Not so pleasant. 250213

Robert brought this one back from a trip to Boston. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark golden color with a medium sized foamy white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was yeasty and funky with a strong black pepper presence and dryish, almost musty undertones. The flavor was dry and very peppery, a bit spicy and musty. Long dry pepper finish. Medium body. Interesting.

Bottle, 22oz. A big, off-white to light beige head forms over a slightly unclear dark amber body. Lots of piney, citrusy aromas escaping the bottle immediately after opening the bottle, and even more when poured into the glass. There’s a malty sweetness too, some notes of caramel, and a dash of dishwashing soap. The flavor has a nice bitterness, balancing the sweetness in a way. Pine cones, resins and some citrus peel too. Full body, soft carbonation. Lasting finish. A nice, well-tasting beer I could have more of. 130202
