Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours near black with a thin light tan head. The nose is earth, wood, vanilla, nougat, dark chocolate, cake, vanilla ice cream and candy. The taste is smooth, rich, earthy, toasty, booze, oak, charred wood and vanilla with a dry, warming finish. Full body and fine carbonation. Pretty punchy stuff. Big charred wood action, not bad.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Colin. Pours black-brown with a frothy beige head. Lots of tar in the nose, dried fruits, raisins. Medium sweet flavor with loads of charred wood, baking cocoa, ash, earth. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with lots and lots of aggressive charred malts, more baking cocoa, scorched earth, lasting ash. Novel but the ash and char is a but dominant.

Christmas beer (which is also what the name litterally means) brewed in Belgium by a Danish brewery. Five malt types and two kinds of sugar have been used here. Off-white, coarse head, copper colour with brownish hue, clear. Aroma of toffee, caramel, cinnamon, kahlua, coriander, cider, pear, sage. Resinous palate, very caramelly with lots of overripe fruits, yeasty bitterishness, spicy accents, hoppy finish. Apparently also used as a component of a beer called Hoppy Christmas. Nice winter warmer, almost like a full barley wine.
Bottle at Craig's. Pours amber, fruity nose, caramel, taste is dry, smoky, sweet, caramel.
