Description
Moncada is more than a brewery – it’s our home. When Julio Moncada first came travelling through West London in 2001 he instantly fell in love with the place. As a dedicated “foodie” he first wanted to start a deli, but then he had an even better idea – the Moncada Brewery.

We began Moncada Brewery in the colourful area of Notting Hill. Julio surrounded himself with like-minded craft beer obsessives and became inspired by the neighbourhood – creative, vibrant and hemmed with diversity – and the Notting Hill beer range was born, which makes up our core range today.

Later, in 2017, we moved to Dollis Hill to expand and explore a new locality. A new place marked a new start, and the Blueprint beer series was launched, focusing on experimentation and limited edition releases, with a touch of eccentricity.

Relocated once more in Spring 2018 to the current address.

330ml bottle. Darkest brown colour late awakening and simultaneously diminishing, eventually small, frothy, minimally lacing, tan head. Chocolately dark malty aroma that can’t deny its grainy origin, some coffee and caramel, all with grainy residues, some husk. Taste is slightly bitter and roasty dark malty, hints of coffee surrogate, dark chocolate, some hay; soft carbonation, fluffy palate.

Gravity cask at the Rake - Borough Market, London. Pours clear amber with a modest, frothy white head. The nose has dried fruits, day-old bread and light wood. Medium sweet flavor with restrained leafy bitterness, dried and lightly leathery fruits. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish with more leathery berries, dry and bitter wood, faint bitter leaves and berry skins. Not bad. Fairly dynamic.

330ml bottle from Provenance Wines, shared with Ashton McCobb. Cheers Ash! Pours dark brown with a nice tan head. Aromas are quite light, but liquorice first, then earthy and dark chocolate comes through as it warms up. Taste brings some coffee, more chocolate. Nice creamy texture. Decent.
