Description
Moncada is more than a brewery – it’s our home. When Julio Moncada first came travelling through West London in 2001 he instantly fell in love with the place. As a dedicated “foodie” he first wanted to start a deli, but then he had an even better idea – the Moncada Brewery.

We began Moncada Brewery in the colourful area of Notting Hill. Julio surrounded himself with like-minded craft beer obsessives and became inspired by the neighbourhood – creative, vibrant and hemmed with diversity – and the Notting Hill beer range was born, which makes up our core range today.

Later, in 2017, we moved to Dollis Hill to expand and explore a new locality. A new place marked a new start, and the Blueprint beer series was launched, focusing on experimentation and limited edition releases, with a touch of eccentricity.

Relocated once more in Spring 2018 to the current address.

330ml bottle. Initially barely clear, with later pourings cloudy, opaque, deep golden colour with average to huge, frothy, fluffy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Hoppy aroma has a touch of grapefruit, herbs, and pine. Taste is moderately bitter hoppy, minimally fruity, mineral, and spicy, slightly grainy, malty background. Solid.

50cl bottle. A hazy amber colour with no head, despite a very careful pour; sweet citrus aroma; soft lemony taste with a chalky background; and then some sharp grapefruit leaving a dry finish. A rather average blond ale.

Bottle courtesy Ang’, passed on at the Moncada Brewery Taproom (soon to open), Friday 16th May 2014 consumed at home Monday 26th May 2014 Pours gold with white small frothy head. A little yeast on nose (I tipped it in) but with enough citrus (lemony?) to counteract this. Admittedly not as young or as fresh as it could have been, I understand from Ang’ it was brewed towards the end of last year, but still decent. A leisurely lingering steady bitterness. Bottle courtesy Ang’, passed on at the Moncada Brewery Taproom (soon to open), Friday 16th May 2014 consumed at home Saturday 24th May 2014 Pours reddy/amber with light filmy coating and a creamy edge. A little metallic at first with a distinctive twang which is fruity but I cannot identify which fruits. Hops show and continue to show throught having said that I wouldn’t describe this as a hoppy beer. Ok but I prefer others in the range. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov3 3.1

Keg at Moncada Brewery Taproom (soon to open), Friday 16th May 2014 with Ang’, Morten and the other young guy whose name I forget (sorry) Pours golden, really refreshing, soft in mouth, nice carbonation, I found this similar to the Beavertown Neck Oil, I’d just had at The Union Tavern and that is praise. Restrained but pleasant bitterness and citrus. A6 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.6
