Backlog rating LCRBM/Bruxellensis trip 2006: Looks like the wit. Underattenuated, light fruity aroma, aromatic fruit esters. Light body. Fruity orange/apple aftertaste.

Backlog rating LCRBM/Bruxellensis trip 2006: Cloudy white yellow, blanket head. Light orangezest aroma. Light spicy, orange, minerals - yeast. Light body, welllagered. Milk aftertaste. Perfumed notes the only thing distinguishing it from the Blond.

Tasted years ago from tap at the Brasseurs de la Grande Place in Brussels when they were still active; this was the best beer they had in my opinion, a hazy peach blonde, malt sweet, rather simple but soft, gentle and ’honest’ tripel with crisp hoppy finish.

Standard witbier, used to be sold as Grand Place Blanche at the brewpub, with a moussy, not very stable head and cloudy straw blonde colour; barley sweetness with sourish wheat and a lot of coriander. Actually not really bad for its style but very cliché.

’Luxepils’ (stronger than average) with pale golden blonde colour and thin, loose, quickly dissolving head; very neutral character with some malt sweetness, low carbonation, thin mouthfeel and lightly flowery hops in the finish. Was also sold as Grande Place Blonde, apparently.

The (top-fermented) kriek from this brewery, tasted in 2007; typical red colour, loose head, sweet cherry and candy aroma with some nutty malts shining through, sweet taste but not too cloying, very thin mouthfeel, no finish to speak of. Not good but still rather ’believable’.

Sampled in the brewpub in 2008, sold there at that time as Grand Place Dark. Off-white, thin, creamy, quickly dissolving head, colour yellowish bronze, cristal clear, transparent with little sparkling. Aroma of caramel, nuts, peach, orange peel, vague hints of nutmeg and liquorice. Neutral onset, quite strong carbonation, light orange touch, caramel and nut-like maltiness, thin and quite obviously without any dark malts (artificially coloured), slight hoppiness in the finish, brief.

Draught at the brewery’s premises in 2007, sold there at the time as Grand Place Ambrée. Orange blond, pale-ale like beer with caramel and very nutty malt character, dried fruits, thin and almost watery mouthfeel, grassy hops in the finish. More reminiscent of an English bitter than a true Belgian amber ale.

Average and actually quite boring Belgian tripel. Fruity and yeasty, but a bit thin.

Average Belgian dubbel beer. Fruity, sweetish malty and yeasty. Decent, not special.
