Some store in Carroll Gardens six-pack ($11): Light amber scotch color with a quickly dissipating head. Those dry German hops predominate the aroma. Really smooth. Minor bitterness. Good amount of malts. Metallic finish. Some aftertaste. Nothing great, but a perfectly good session beer.

Bottled@Akkurat, Stockholm (thanks to BK for helping me out drinking this one). Deep ambery red colour with big off-white head that leaves some lace. Aroma is fruits, wood, caramel malts, mild bready notes as well as some zesty notes and a bit of alcohol as well. Flavour is being quite much the same, but the alcohol is burning a bit too much.

Draught at MacGregors. Nice bubbly head. Deep amber color. Big hop aroma and flavor. Strong peppery bitterness with a touch of cherry, and rye and caramel. Nice balance. Flavorful.

Mossy aroma with caramel hints. Clear amber, medium head. Malty caramel flavor. Grassy rye finish. Sweet then dry, and not too much either way. Good balance, but not real exciting. Nice for what it is.

Honey, pine, and orange peel aroma. Clear amber, medium puffy white head. Malt forward with a delayed soapy pine flavor. Finishes with grass and celery, decidely bitter. Pretty well done, although not very unique. In the end, I enjoyed drinking it.

12 oz bottle. Golden color, medium white head, good lacing. Aroma of blueberry muffin and dirty sweat socks. Taste is slightly bitter, malt, light fruit. A bit unbalanced, but nice enough.

Pint at Angels and Kings, NY ($6): Pours a very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of nuts, chocolate, and roasted malts. Very full flavored beer. Has some sweet notes in there, but this is not amongst the sweeter of the sweet stouts. The chocolate flavor in this beer is quite good, without being at all watery. I drank the whole thing when it was cold and it went down extraordinarily well. This is the kind of stout I can drink on a warm summer day.

Tea and vanilla aroma, maybe a little toffee. Tea colored, with a medium yellow head, good lacing. Malt forward swiftly transitioning to tea and cherries at midpalate. Finishes with grass and moss. Unusually bitter for an amber. Perhaps a little over done with whatever hop gives the bitter mossiness. At the same time, I think it may appeal to people who like that. It’s quite good, and it certainly is different.

Bottle. Dull brown color, coca-cola head. Aroma of chocolate muffin. Tastes like sour root beer. Interesting, and probably worth trying again.
