Description
Arkell’s Brewery was established in 1843 by John Arkell and 175 years later, is one of less than thirty family breweries remaining in the UK. As Swindon’s oldest business, Arkell’s has kept its founding values alive and continues to produce local beer for local customers. These values have been continued by the four family members in charge today; Chairman James Arkell, his cousin Nick Arkell, Head of Sales, and James’ sons George Arkell, and Alex Arkell are Managing Director and Head Brewer respectively.

Cask@The Great British Beer Festival 2022 (Days 1&2) - Herbal hoppy and farm yard with grain, straw, hay, floral notes, horse blanket, medium body, yeasty linger into the close.

Cask at GBBF '22 day 1, 02/08/22. Clear golden to light amber with a decent cream cap that retains well. Nose is orange peel, grass, melon, soft malts. Taste comprises melon, tangerine, airy malts, light breads. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close spliced with light juicy hop bitterness. Not bad.

Cask at GBBF '22 day 2, 03/08/22. Almost clear pale golden blonde with a good sized white covering. Nose is earthy fruits, light funk, hint sulphuric, grains, lemon rind. Taste comprises saison yeast, grass, lemon zest, hedgerow, light funk. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light drying close. Tidy cask saison.

500ml bottle, surprise bottle from Soph on an evening shop. Clear amber pour, large off-white head. Gentle fruit malt aroma. Taste presents a standard fruity bitter, light bodied, with a good sweet malt base. Fine.
