Thanks, flopfacefred. The beer is a medium amber. It’s somewhat hazy. Smallish white head. Some lacing. Dissipates to a thin layer of bubbles after a minute. The aroma has some really nice fruit flavor to it. Big passionfruit and dragonfruit flavor in the aroma. It’s nice and sweet and juicy. Kumquat is moderate strength. The bay leaf is interesting and contributes some depth but it also feels unnecessary here. The taste has a fair bit more bay leaf, and I’m not a big fan of that. It’s still interesting and does work with the fruit flavors, but it’s also woody, kinda bitter and just gets in the way of the fruitiness for me. I’d much rather have the fruit alone on the stage because I think the flavor is strong enough and doesn’t need the spice. Anyway, it’s still quite enjoyable overall. Nice juicy fruit flavor. Solid oak with some wine action creeping in. Medium to light mouthfeel. Normal carbonation. Very good beer. I just wish they kept it a bit simpler.

Poured from a bottle courtesy of FlopFaceFred and popery. Aroma is very fruity with a lot of tropical fruit with some citrus. A bit of a candied fruit character to it with some light citrus. Light malt notes of caramel and toasted bread. Maybe some honey character with a light spiciness. Bay leaves work well in the aroma and add some phenolic complexity. Pours a fairly clear copper color with a medium sized, moderately thick, white head that recedes to the edges where it lingers. Moderate lacing and small legs. Flavor is slightly to moderately sweet with some light caramel notes. Moderately strong fruit notes, especially towards the finish where there is a lot of passion fruit. Medium bitterness. Medium light acidity with some light kumquat character. Bay leaves add a bit of bitterness as a well as a woody, herbal phenolic note. Light oak notes and tannins. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an interesting and unique beer that works for me, but I can see this being a polarizing beer with the bay leaves. So much passion fruit and dragon fruit.

650 ml bottle thanks to Adamchandler. Bottle count number of 1846. Bottled in Nov, 2014. Pitch black color with a thin coating of tan head in the snifter. Aroma has a story my presence of whiskey. Nice dark chocolate and roasted character.

The flavor of shows the roasty/ chocolate imperial stout base with a light hint of anise. The barrel is pretty forward in flavor but it has mellowed with the year in the cellar. The mouthfeel has a slick / oily texture with a great viscosity over the palate. Borderline really, really exceptional.

I think it was GT2 that sent this to me. Bottled a year ago, enjoyed 2 ways at 45F with AFH.

A - Good cap sound @ opening, 1 finger espresso creama head.

S - This is completely pitch black, The aroma is a booze bomb. smells fantastic. Vanilla, coconut and chocolate brownie batter.

T - Very sweet, that brownie taste continues. More rum than bourbon taste with a sweet thick licorice from the molasses and maple syrup finish. There’s a lot of whiskey in here. It lingers dark burnt chocolate. the bitterness of this beer is completely refined.

M - Has a good density but it has a BCS quality to it without being too sweet or too thick. Oily finish with a slight bitterness

O - I’m a huge fan of this one. Well crafted, enjoyable and is best after it sat for a year.

I like the theme of this brewery’s beer labels/names. 22oz bomber pours with a clear pure gold body that supports a dull white head of foam. The modest aroma offers up a sampling of citrus hops as well as inviting hoppy spicy onion dankness. The taste delivers a pleasing fresh hoppy mix of spicy onion dank hops, bitter tangerine, grapefruit and clementine citrus hops. Just behind the hop bitterness resides a thin river of citrus and slightly mango like fruity juiciness. Yum. This conjures up a tasty balance of bitter, spicy and juicy hops on top of a supportive thin sweet malty base. Nice.
