Bedlam was established on Albourne Estate winery in 2011 by a group of friends and we were then encouraged by our local community to start brewing commercially in 2015. We have since expanded and moved to our current location. We continue to promote a strong community ethos.
Bedlam was named after Bedlam Street running through Hurstpierpoint to our original site. We are informed that the original Bedlam road runs directly through to our new site, which, if true, would be a crazy coincidence!
Behind the bedlam it’s always a barrel of fun.

Cask at MS HW, 02/02/18. Mid amber copper pour with a decent light beige head. Nose is toffee, dusty hops, airy malts, brown sugar, mellow fruit. Taste comprises biscuit, caramel, hint of fruit loaf, straw, candied orange peel. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with balanced hop bitterness. Decent cask sessioner.

Keg at MS HW, 28/01/18. Light haze on a golden pour with a decent off white head. Nose is caramel, biscuit, grains, light malt bill, orange peel. Taste comprises straw, biscuit, light breads, lemon rind, crackers, toasted grains, tangerine, faint pine. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with modest hop bitterness. Dull for the style ... doesn't pull out of 3rd gear.

Cask. Poursxa dark brown with light head. Aromas and flavors of nutty roasted malts. A bit dusty. Pretty much what one would expect of a pub porter.

Moderately bitter and delicately sweet and also tart flavour, light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Earthy and moderately roasted malty base with notes of coffee, burnt caramel and dark chocolate; moderately roast-malty and slightly leathery tart finish. Good! 13.IX.17
