Bottle from Beers of Europe [180115]
Dark copper amber, clear, frothy white head dissipates to thin layer, slight lacing
Aroma of soft citrus hops, slight gooseberry, touch floral
Taste of caramel malts, soft hedgerow hops, bitter zest hops, quite malty, hops more bitter than fruity
Palate - soft carb, medium body, fairly oily, soft sweet, quite bitter. Finish is a bit dry with a bitter zest linger
Overall - OK, but too much crystal malt in this

Cask at the Earl of Essex, 16/12/14. Chestnut brown with moderate beige edgeing. Nose is biscuit, light spice, dark malt, toffee. Taste comprises earthy strains, winter cheers, malt base, toffee, faint fruit. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. So so.

Keg at the Blue Moon, Cambridge. Cloudy yellow/orange with the tiniest bit of head. Aroma: Citra. In all its resiny, piney, apricotty glory. Bitter fruit hit hit a sweet and almost salty edge. Complex balanced finish with a bitter hop kick at the end. Perfect amount of carbonation. This gets mixed results from other raters but I thought it was glorious. The best beer I’ve had in months.

Cask. Friends of Ham, Leeds. Clear gold. Thick, dense, white head. Chewy malts. Some ripe strawberry. Not a lot of much else. Taste is bitter. Light dry. Finishes earthy bitter. Bit of sweet on the lips.

Bottle from the Beers of Europe Christmas Crate. Copper coloured pour with a wispy white head. Aromas of smoke, salt, toffee, raisins and figs. Lots of Christmasy flavours in there- figs, walnuts, dates plus a splash of sweet spice, bonfire toffee, burnt wood and raisin. Quite a tasty brew.
