Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol March 2024. Golden in colour, with a slight, white, head. A touch of citrus hop, biscuity malts, some tangerine sweetness and a suggestion of pine, leading to a dryish finish. Fine.

Pours an almost clear amber colour with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma is malty, caramel with some fruit and hop notes. A moderately sweet and malty taste, sweet malts, caramel, berry fruit flavours with a decent leafy hop bitterness.

[33cl can from Beer52.] A hazy pale chestnut pour with a loose cream head; aroma is confusingly both malty and citrusy; creamy citrus taste with a rye-like bitterness in the body; then a clean crisp finish. Pleasant, but a bit odd.

I love me a good brown ale... and this is a good brown ale. The lighter side of mid-brown, translucent/clear with a tiny spotty ring of iff-white head. Lovely aroma, dark caramel, oak, a little vinous note. Sweet taste, more of that intense oaky character. Sarsaparilla. And here comes an intense mid-sip bitter, only to switch to sweet again for the finish. Light body with almost no carbonation. Never been too impressed by Sambrooks but my goodness this is a masterstroke.

Pours a clear chestnut brown colour with a small, mostly lasting, foamy beige head. Aroma is light roasted malts and a hint of chocolate. A moderately sweet and light roasted taste, lightly roasted malt, some grainy flavours and a hint of smoke in a light drying finish. Ordinary.

Cask at The Greyhound, Bromley. Clear golden orange pour with a white head. Honey and vanilla aromas. Taste is honey, touch of citrus, apricot caramel, , vanilla. Malty bitter finish.

Half pint, cask ale, shared with Finn at Shakespeares Head. Wetherspoon Beer Festival, March 24. Clear, warm golden body under a filmy layer, clingy lacing. Moderate aromas of herbal hops and grainy malts. Malt-fruity flavours, impacts of citrus and cereal malts. A distant piney twist towards the finish. Decent. (London, 16.03.2024).
