The flavour is moderate to light sour with a smooth, crisp, refreshing, fruit palate and a light sweet, salty finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Tap at the Ho Chi Minh brewpub. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy, short-lived tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, light chocolate, some coffee. The flavour is moderate sweet with a rich fruity, chocolate, coconut, vanilla, light spicy palate. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. I expected more on the chocolate front but the other flavours more than made up for it. At 13% the alcohol is very well hidden. So well hidden in fact the I really doubt that the ABV is correct.

Tap at the Ho Chi Minh brewpub. Poured a hazy straw colour with a thin broken white head and some broken lace. The aroma is light zesty citrus, some alcohol. The flavour is moderate bitter with a big yeasty, burning liqourice alcohol, light lemongrass palate and a long alcoholic bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Not so bad but the alcohol is taking over and dominating the beer over any other flavours. It’s half way towards a cheap malt liquor. Pull it back guys!

Tap at the Ho Chi Minh brewpub. The ABV seems to vary wildly for this beer and the one I sampled was just 4%. Poured a crystal clear straw colour with a thin white head. The aroma is big zesty passion fruit. The flavour is light acid citrus light sweet with a light, slightly watery crisp lemon citrus palate. Light bodied with average carbonation. Stands out from the crowd for sure. Won’t be to everyone’s taste but it’s light and really refreshing. I’d order a pint.... I think!

Sapodilla Strong Ale 6.3% a reddish brown made with brown sugar and the sapodilla fruit. Great malty aroma, malty sweet, sugared plums - reminiscent of a barleywine. Medium bodied with a zesty carbonation. Nice malty flavor, raisin, some hoppy citrus, a bit of heat, caramel and just yum.
