Cask at Merton Winter Beer Festival, 2005 Going back through my travel log and Merton Beer Festival information tonight and picking up those I’ve not added yet. This is a really decent Mild that I’ve had many times since. Poured dark brown with a beige head, simple mild but nice coffee and chocolate aroma to this. Lovely roasted mlt taste and whilst uncomplicated very well done.

Wow! I thought this was one of the best beers I’ve had rescently. It looks great, pretty much pitch black, with a small amount of brown, creamy head. A really nice, burnt aroma as well as some chocolatey hints. A great coffee taste that’s really quite powerful followed by very burnt malts and then a bitter dark chocolate taste on the after. The after-taste stuck with me for hours! Amazing beer!

Cask at Cask and Barrel, Edinburgh. Pale golden. Sweet and fruity with an odd off flavour of plastic. Medium bodied with soft mouthfeel, but some bold grainiess disturbs. Finishes with burnt toast and plastic bitterness.
