Description
B&T began brewing as an independent brewer in 1982 under the name Banks & Taylor's, with the aim to produce traditional cask ales using only the finest raw materials.

In 1994 Banks & Taylor's became B&T Brewery Ltd and continues to produce top quality, award winning cask ales today. Using traditional methods and a combination of pale, wheat, crystal and roast malts along with Challenger, Golding's and Cascade whole hops, B&T are able to produce over 30 different beers, each with their own distinct character and flavour.

Seasonal specials are produced to celebrate or commemorate the many different traditions, folk laws and historical events that have taken place locally.

In 2020 the Brewery was shut down and beers contract brewed at 3 Brewers.

Cask at the Elm Tree, Cambridge. Amber with a thin white head; sweet malt aroma; sweet fruity malt flavour, with a rsther thin body; sweet biscuity finish.

Cask @ Blackfriars. Black colour, tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, bitter. Flavour is roasted malts, glue, slightly sour.

6th November 2008. Clear gold beer. Not to dry or bitter. A little sweet banana in there. Reasonably well balanced.

Cask. Very close to black colour with small brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, some dark dry fruits, mild toffee and caramel malts. Flavour is liquorice, roasted malts, some fruits and wooden notes as well. Rather pleasant and quite complex for being 4.5%.

Cask handpull at Samuel Peto, JDW, Folkestone. Chestnut colour with thin beige head. Fruity malt aroma. Quite juicy in mouth. OK dryness on finish. Some residual dry malt. Juicy bitter, pretty well made. Like most B&T beers, its fine.

Cask (gravity) @ GBBF 09, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.Clear light to medium to dark amber yellow orange color with a small to average to large, frothy - fizzy, good - fair lacing, mostly lasting - diminishing, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, light to moderate hoppy, citrus. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090807]

Very dry stout. Mildy toasted malt middle and a very acrid bitter finish. Original rating 2.4

14th July 2011
Chelmsford Beer Festival. Opaque dark brown beer. Residual tan head. Light crisp palate. Semi dry. Rich dark malt, bitter and somewhat roasty. Undertone of fruit and a little estery bubblegum. Dark chocolate and coffee. Minerals. A little hop fruit. Bitter aftertaste. Tasty and fairly complex.

22nd April 2008. Beautifully balanced malt and hops. Mellow malt and crisp jiucy hops. Semi dry finish and a sweet note at the end.

April 2008. Very mild mild! A trace of fruit in the malt and a little minerals in the slightly bitter finish.
