Bottle on the train home from Kingswear, thanks to Dave, 28/08/21. Black with a moderate tan cap that clears to nothing rather abruptly. Nose is coffee bean, dark malts, brown sugar dusting, dried fruits. Taste comprises dark malts, light coffee grinds, dried fruits, light charr, spice, toffee. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. OK stout if a little on the thin side.

Cask at Moon Under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours “bitter brown” with ample white head and good lacing. Malts and sugar in the nose. Sweet malts again in the mouth, with traces of caramel and nuts. Some bitterness comes thorugh at the finish. A decent traditional bitter – but a bit one dimensional.
