bottle from Waitrose Sidmouth. Hazy golden yellow, small head. lemony-hoppy nose. Malty with lovely bitter and aromatic hops and fruity hints, especially lemon and other citrus fruit. Delicious.

Reddish brown colour. Sweet aroma of fruit syrup and floral honey. Flavour is fruity and sweet with some raspberry and blackcurrant coming through.

[500ml bottle shared with Jim - cheers mate!] I’d hated the cask version of this so I wasn’t exactly thrilled when my brother hauled this out of his fridge. Poured autumnal amber in colour, with a minimal head and prickly medium carbonation. Good citric bitterness, with sweet straw and honey behind. A very good light yet tasty ale, although it does get a little syrup-y when warm (so serve cool). So much better than the cask version, can’t believe it’s the same beer. Maybe it was just a bad cask I tried, but other marks on here seem to support the difference.

50 cL bottle, A241528. Pours hazy deep orange with a huge light orange head, slowly diminishing into a small dense creamy head with a small lacing on the side. Spiced and citrus fruity aroma. A bit flat mouthfeel. Quite spiced, yet not overly done. Yeasty and hoppy at once. Yet also smooth and quite pleasent. Phenolic fruity notes on the back of the nose giving away banana and oranges mixed with clove and cardemomme like spice notes.

Brown bottle, 500 ml, best before 13 APR 09, purchased at the LCBO on October 4 2008, savoured on November 26 2008; eye: amber with an orange hue, clear, no effervescence, tiny ring of beige head, a bit of lacing; nose: lots of malt, grain, light toasted bread; mouth: lots of malt, lots of grain, roasted bread, dry finale in bittering hops, mild astringency remains present for a long time, grainy texture, lightly bitter, medium body, not much carbonation; overall: correct FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 500 ml, meilleure avant le 13 avril 2009, achetée à la LCBO le 4 octobre 2008, savourée le 26 novembre 2008; œil : ambrée avec une teinte orangée, claire, pas d’effervescence, petit anneau de mousse beige, un peu de dentelle; nez : beaucoup de malt, grain, léger pain grillé; bouche : beaucoup de malt, beaucoup de grain, pain grillé, finale sèche en houblon amérisant, astringence moyenne reste en bouche très longtemps, texture granuleuse, légèrement amère, corps moyen, peu carbonatée; en résumé : correct

From cask at Food of the Walk. Pours almost clear and golden orange with a small lacing white head. Mild roasted malty aroma. Vague to mild spiced hoppy flavour with a mild bitterness coming through. Light fruity hoppy too. Smooth and bitter finish.

[Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading.] Amber with a thin white head; biscuit and yeast aroma; sour grain flavours with a honey sweetness and a grassy bitterness. Ordinary but drinkable.
