Bottle 50cl. @ home.Cear medium amber orange color with a large, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to light light heavy malty, malt, toffee, light to moderate hoppy, grass. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, has a hop burn finish. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. (250808)

Bottle at home... This is one of those beers that i wasnt looking forward to that much but from the first taste found to be a delight ... slightl hazy amber ... sweet metalic nose not so nice ... sweet (prob why i liked it ) fuirty juicy and in tasting (not drinking) the metalic flavour is more present ... on drinking the metalicness is barly noticible and your left with a nice caramel malt with a ligth hop

[500ml bottle from Sainsbury’s, Reading] Individually numbered A189556 - produced on 26/11/2007 according to their website, so almost a yeay old at time of tasting. Pours red-brown with a minimal white head. Tastes of sweet red fruits (strawberries and plums?), chocolate, treacle and caramel - an odd combination. Quite sweet, with an underlying barely-there earthy bitterness. Mouthfeel is on the sticky side, although not overwhelmingly so. And, as with all BreakWind beers, there was something dirty lingering in the background to spoil the pint for you - in this case it made me think of gravy for some reason! Overall it’s not a bad beer, especially by the low standards of the regular BreakWind’s brews, but apart from the sweetness there’s nothing here that reflects the high ABV - it’s not particularly complex, there’s not a huge depth of flavour, and afterwards I could barely feel the effects of the alcohol! c7

This ale poured a dark orange colour with a big rocky head. To the nose there are scents of sweet malt, corn and caramel. First taste is slightly bitter and watery. Flavours of caramel and hopps are very prodominant. The finish is slightly bitter with caramel flavours lingering. Light bitter palate.

Bottle: Poured a light clear brown color ale with a medium foamy head with average retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of light caramel malt with some dry Fuggles hops. Taste is also a mix between some dry Fuggles hops and a medium caramel malt base. I thought it was relatively well done for the style.

Cask2008. Aroma is slightly eggy with fruits, nectar and a lot of caramel malts. Flavour is oak, spices, fruits and mild notes of vanilla. Very dry wood in the finish.

Cask@GBBF2008. Deep golden colour, small white head. Aroma is yeast, fruits, toffee, rotten vegetables and some mild caramol. Flavour is dry grass, toffeeish notes along with fruityness and mild yeastyness. Dry grassy finish.

Cask at the Crooked Billet, Honey LAne, Wokingham. Brakspear’s seasonal beer for August. An intreguing reddish gold colour with a fast fading white head;sweet floral aroma; some honey flavour but quite subtle, with grainy malts. Overall rather sweet.
