Half pint, well-kept on cask at Eagle and Child in Oxford. Deep brown body with low head, but great lacing on the glass. Weak fruitiness and malt in aroma. Original review text: Third, gravicask, at the 22nd Oxford Beer & Cider Festival. Shared with Finn. Bright amber body under a shiny naked surface, fair lacing. Slightly buttery caramel aromas. Similar taste of buttery caramel joined by herbal hops and dried fruits. Bittersweet finish. Well made for the low abv. (25.10.2019). --- Beer merged from original tick of Bitter (Bottle) on 18 Aug 2006 at 02:15 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6.5. Original review text: At Tromsø Ølfestival Aug 16-19, 2006(Tromsø Beer Festival) there were a good range of beers from Wychwood and Brakspear. This one, that came in an appealing 660ml bottle, had a rich taste despite low alcohol. Light copper colour topped by a off-white cap. Aroma was fruity and a bit citric. Fine hoppy flavour with notes of grain and malt and a robust bitter finish. A bit watery, though.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury. Brakspear yeasty aroma, with some hop and some toffee malt. It’s clearly a Brakspear beer, that yeast aroma is very distinctive. Some hop sting on the end. Fine.

Medium yellowish beige lasting head. Amber body. Powerful fruity aroma with malt and candy notes plus a touch of alcohol. Powerful sweet wooden candy taste with notes of caramel and fruit. A touch of alcohol, too. Dry peppery, spicy hoppy aftertaste with notes of tea. Some alcohol heat. Good, but the alcohol is maybe a bit prominent, making the taste seem slightly artificial. Do enjoy the hops and general character, though. (0.5l bottle no A122908, BBD Oct ’08, from Sainsbury’s, London.)

(Bottle 50 cl) # A69695. Clear, dark amber golden with a nice, creamy, off-white head. Fruity and also a little perfumy aroma. Full-bodied with fruity, perfumy notes - a little bubblegum actually - some roasted malt and then a little raw bitterness in the finish that also contains some alcohol. 030208

Cask handpull, St Aldates, Oxford, RB Pub crawl 08. Gold with lasting beige head. It’s a little fruity, but ultimately a rather dullish ordinary bitter. Bit of yeasty. But not great and just a little bland.
