473ml can. Pours a clear red-brown with a small, creamy, short lived, beige head that laces. Sweet, spicy aroma of toasted bready malt, cinnamon, ginger, clove and allspice. Sweet, spicy flavour of toasted caramel malt, brown sugar, cinnamon, clove, pumpkin, nutmeg, allspice and faint nuts in a dry, mild bitter finish. Light to medium body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Pretty standard pumpkin beer.

473ml can. Pours a clear dark brown, almost black with red hue and a small, creamy, long lasting, tan head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, cocoa, orange peel, licorice, coffee, peat and oak. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, orange peel, cocoa, licorice, prune, cherry and oak in a dry, mild bitter, day old coffee finish. Medium to full body with a soft, creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. ABV is well hidden. A solid Porter or possibly Imperial Porter. (I hate when they call it a Winter Ale!)

Hazy and sort of a dullish pale. Medium head. Light body. Moderate bitterness and some fruit. Has an ISA vibe.

Can. Gentle malts, light caramel sweetness. Good balance. Light bitterness. Decent, not the most lagery lager, but still good beer.

Can. Hazy, pale, with a big head. Bright aroma is minty, with a calamansi/tangerine citrus note. Base malts are a touch sticky, alcohol a bit too strong, but there's still some decent hops on the palate. Not as bright or awesome as the nose, but not bad.

Can. Dark amber. Bright. Just a thin head. Caramelly malts, but crackery and with that little bit of juicy malt. The yeast doesn't bring a ton to the table and the water is rather soft (stupid glaciers), hops aren't much more than bittering. But the malt bill is certainly doing things I like...I'm thinking this malt bill with more attention to the other details would make for a damn fine bitter. Discovery Series No 1? Well, there's potential here. Gimme number 1.2.

This year's is Galaxy and Strata, but the description from last year doesn't exclude Galaxy; it merely mentions Strata is new to the brewery. So okay. Can. Pale and hazy, with a loose head. Big floral grapefruit and lychee notes. There's a lot of Galaxy in this. It's a damn fine aroma. On the palate, it's not quite as amazing...there's a decent bitterness, some pale malts. The tartness isn't as bright, and neither are the hops. So it's the unfortunate dry-hop for show thing but let down on the palate. Still good, but if the palate lived up to the aroma oh man what could be.
