Draught @ Albion. Faintly cloudy dark orange with small foamy off-white head, faint orange peel aroma, medium carbonation, bitter hoppy taste, thin body, long bitter grapefruit finish. Decent IPA.

Deep, dark amber to light mahogany body shows slight clarity against the light and a beige head atop that is small but somewhat well-retained.
Earthy, bready malts with rich caramel, light vanilla and of course, maple. It’s not overdone from the nose, which is great and I like that it’s not chalk full of hop resin, as I can’t see that working with maple syrup. Not that I’d ever guess maple wood, but there’s some element of something like that here. It has a difficult to describe character of old, cured wood. Sort of dusty. Quite interesting. Beyond that, there’s light fruitiness from the maple and yeast, adding apple, date and light blackberry notes. Not boozey, or not too much anyways, though definitely rich and intimidating.
A huge amount of caramel and toffee to begin, with maple quickly asserting itself, though it doesn’t come off syrupy or overly cloying. Acidity is right away notable, seemingly yeast-derived, though perhaps there’s a bit of wood tannin drying things out? Earthy, aged (though not oxidized) flavors abound as well and while it’s not a sugar bomb, it’s very, very rich, very powerful and just difficult to drink much more than a few ounces. I think it’s actually done quite well, as it’s got some light cola, chocolate, dark fruit and vanilla, which was a lot more complexity than I expected. Still, if it had just a bit more dryness, I think it would be quite a bit more successful.

Good clarity through the light golden body with a moderately-well retained white head.
Notes of light grass/floral character with meyer lemon and tangerine. Quite soft and bright and no strong malt tones to interrupt. No alcohol or flaws.
Moderately bitter in the flavor with good attenuation and a fairly tight carbonation and lightly malty/biscuity texture. Grass, soft citrus and herbs through the middle ending with a bit more grapefruit. Very drinkable and competent.

600th rating. Pours a rich dark brown from a bottle. Don’t believe the label, no maple here. Tobacco, yes. Molasses/dark brown sugar, yes. Vanilla, yes. Booziness, a little. Good beer.

On nitro tap at Sedona. Beautiful. Creamy chocolate, coffee, hints of caramel. Tasty but not a tremendous standout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at home to start the Pats Chiefs playoff game luckily had a New Emgland brew to get party started. Hazy reddish pour. Nose is booze and ripe fruit light maple. Tastes of maple, oak, plum, apricot, tobacco, caramel, so,e brandy. Nice light palate not all that assertive for a bw. Some boozy warming at end but overall nice.
