Sample during the "Inventory Reduction Beer Tasting" on 12/26/2015. Clear golden color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily to a film. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, spice and hops. Light-bodied with flavors of citrus, spice and grassy hops. The finish is mildly bitter with a citrusy hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Thick resinous looking muddy brown pour. Strong smooth thick feel as well. Volatile all round. Medicinal, but it hides alky well. You know for sure fromthe start to the end this is simply a big raw fresh barley wine. Terribly on neoamerican style. They should have a separate style for ruff american BWs.

650 ml bottle shared at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki. Black color with beige brown head. Roasted malty aroma, coffee, instant cold coffee, licorice, dark fruits, light chocolate. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

Draft at Churchkey. Clearish brown color, tan head. Aroma of toasted brown bread, raisins, plums. Taste has brown sugar, dark fruit, maple syrup. Very tasty.

4 oz pour on draft at ChurchKey. Clear dark amber with light beige head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, butterscotch, maple syrup. Tastes of caramel, maple syrup, cocoa, toffee, light oak. Medium body with a dry finish.

Pours a black from a bottle. Not much aroma, just a general roastiness. Flavor is a nice coffee truffle, rich, more bitter than sweet. Good beer.

12 oz. bottle purchased at 7 Eleven, Kittery, ME. Deep mahogany color with ruby highlights when held to the light. No head retention. Aroma is strong sweet maple notes, caramelized sugar, English Toffee. Dear god, a shit ton of sugar notes.
Maybe letting this sit will help it. But perhaps not. The flavor is dominated by sugar. Maple, toffee, caramelized sugar, and some bready malts. I get no hops at all and this could only be improved with some type of bitterness to offset the maple and sugar. Mouthfeel is in the medium body range with a sticky texture. I knew this would be sweet but it really rides the line of cloying.

This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a thin wisp of tan foamy head. Gentle thin lacing slides into the beer.
The smell had a nice sweet to roasty blend of coffee, cocoa and a light amount of vanilla. Light bitter coffee grounds slide in underneath.
The taste was mainly sweet with a nice roasty to sweet blend of the coffee to cocoa once again. A light dry sweet to roasty coffee aftertaste leads into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sipping quality about it. Carbonation seemed good as an RIS, as there’s enough dry and bitter roastiness on my tongue.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good RIS that I would have again.

12oz bottle pours a hazy amber, that settles like a Guinness into a deep amber with plenty of frothy, cream colored head. Nose is really more like a dopplebock in that there’s lots of raisins and sugar and that’s probably due to the maple, dried cherry, turbinado sugar, marzipan, some macaroon, hints of wet dog. Flavor is all sweetness, raisin, cherry, brown sugar, marzipan, macaroon, some cocoa nib. Full, boozy finish. Call me crazy, but this is just too sweet. This reads more dopplebock than barleywine.

Tap at Stagshead. Deep dark brown. Milk chocolate nose. Tastes of lactose, chocolate, oats, some roasted malt, bitter coffee. Just a touch sweet. Light palate. Smooth as silk.
