Bottle pour at Powder Keg Beer & Chili Festival. Aroma is roasted malts with some chocolate. Appearance is nice black pour with minimal discernible sparkle, minimal beige head with mild lacing. Taste is similar to aroma with medium sweet roasted and chocolatey flavor but also with a little bit of smoke. The smoke is a little off though (burned some bird droppings with a magnifying glass as a kid and it reminds me a little of that). Palate is light-to-medium body with creamy texture and soft to average carbonation. Overall, a nice looking and smelling beer with nice palate but the slightly off smokey flavor gives some demerits.

Better than expected. Nice creamy head. Choco moose, heheh. Beautiful lacing too. Quite laid back and happy. Nice first impressions. A sweet stout that does not go beyond plain stout territory. Good balanced job. Yes,a roasty fun berw fer sure. More mellow, civilized and well behaved than most. One of the better stouts I’ve had in a while. Fun. Just good mild beer experiences.

From tap. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is crisp fruity, light peachy. Smooth fruity, light watery. Bitter, fruity and crisp hoppy finish.

Bottle poured into pint glass from Signal Variety, Plaistow NH. Aroma is chocolate, roasted coffee and licorice, slightly smokey. Appearance is dark, dark reddish black (perfect for the blood moon!) at the bottom of the glass, opaque black at the top, with sparkle (where I could see it) and finger-width beige head with good retention and attractive lacing. Taste is rich moderate sweetness with roasty bitterness. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with creamy texture, lively carbonation to remind you you’re not having a porter or a stout and long roasted bittersweet finish. Overall, a fantastic way to take in an eclipse, but would be fantastic otherwise, too. Bravo!

Bottle poured into pint glass from Signal Variety, Plaistow NH. Aroma is earthy with dough and bread. Appearance is hazy golden orange with mild sparkle, no head to speak of and trace lacing. Taste is lightly sour beginning with nice floral sweetness balancing bitter in the middle. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with crisp texture and dry throughout. Lively carbonation. Overall, as advertised--highly drinkable and session-able. Doesn’t stand out but is competent.

Bottle poured into pint glass from Signal Variety, Plaistow NH. Aroma is citrus dominant over a mild yeasty and bready smell (had one of three with fairly strong yeasty ammonia/cat piss and b.o./dirty laundry smell and a little bit of bread--will give a pass that that was a bad one). Appearance is hazy yellow with nice sparkle, two finger-width fluffy white head and nice lacing. Taste still has the sour ammonia/cat piss (more than the aroma) with a strong citrus back end. Palate is medium bodied with sticky texture, somewhat astringent with average carbonation and very dry, bitter finish you can feel in your back teeth. Overall, I was really looking forward to this beer. There is a fair amount of complexity here but not all of it is good.

This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a ruddy burnt orange to brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Lacing was fairly clingy with ringy foaminess gracing the sides of the tulip.
The smell started off with dried pine, dried mango, bitter orange rind, light honey, and a sticky sweet papaya to balance.
The taste had a pure bittersweet bliss running into the previously mentioned flavors and slapping around the hops creating the flavor on into the aftertaste in a fairly sticky sweet to bitter fashion.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a nice semi-sticky bittersweet hoppiness clinging nicely to my tongue.
Overall, this was a really nice DIPA that I would definitely have again.

Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured a hazy vibrant yellow-gold color with a medium sized fluffy wthie head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweetish, chalky, perfume and citrus followed by a second layer that was tangy with a bit of honey. The flavor was medicinal with lots of band aid and perfume. Long medicinal and band aid finish. Medium body. Pretty awful.

Bottle at home in CT. Pours rich brown with a frothy beige head. The nose has pleasant roast, some coffee, cocoa, earth. Medium sweet actor with lightly gooey chocolate, burnt toast, bitter coffee, faint wood, marshmallowZ medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with burnt sugars, milk chocolate, balanced roast, scorched earth. Really drinkable stuff. Otter Creek doesn’t get a lot of love, but they put out some damn solid beers.
