Total Wine, Fairfax bottle: pours black with a beige head. Aroma is light roasted pretzel, light chocolate, and some coffee. Taste is lightly bitter. Not too sweet. This is pretty smooth and nice. Not really a sweet atout in my opinion.

Bottled (backlog). More or less black colour, small beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, liquorice and quite much fruity and floral notes. Flavour is quite much the same. Almost like a mix of a bodied IPA and a Porter in a good balance.

12 oz. bottle dated 08/11/15 so about 10 weeks old. Tulip glass. A: Average strength pours yields a heady hazy tawny gold body Big bubbly head that recedes in a couple minutes to bubbles but never completely dissipates. Small amounts of patchy lace. No sediment seen but the beer is translucent S: Smells of pale malt and a slight hint of orange pith. Very light aroma. T: Citrus punch is first with juicy bitterness. Pith is still there in the mix with a sour malt breadiness almost an afterthought toward the finish. More grapefruit noticed along with orange. Both fruit and pith. No real pine flavor. M: Dry and fairly light with a medium length, pretty clean finish. Nice stiff but refined carbonation scrub. O: I don’t get the dankness I was expecting but this is a very nice crisp, hoppy ale that is restrained rather than overdoing anything and this makes it very good IMO. A decent middle ground between a standard IPA and a Session ale, as it should be. ABV is at an accessible level also without being too strong or too watery. Good overall product that I hope will be distributed to NC soon. I recommend it.

12 oz bottle purchased at 7- Eleven for an awesome price of $1.79. Pitch black color with thin white head. Aroma is oat flakes with chocolate and a very mild smoke. That is a surprise.
Flavors are chocolate, light brownie batter, burnt sugars, oats and just a hint of smoky char. The body and palate is nice due to the oats. Thicker body with a dry roasted/ smoke texture. For the price this brew rocks! I really appreciate a solid made brew at a great price, nicely done!

This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a slim finger’s worth of white to off white foamy head that dissipated pretty quickly.
The smell starts off with sweet milk and dark chocolate and a light coffee to balance underneath slightly.
The taste was mainly sweet through the milk and dark chocolate. A light sweet sticky chocolate aftertaste runs into a sticky sweet cocoa finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fair sipping quality about it. Carbonation seemed to be barely there - I’m thinking the bottle was a bit old, eh, no worries.
Overall, I’d say that this was a pretty good American Strong Ale that I would have again.

Pours black into a shaker. Mocha head with good retention recedes leaving trailing sheets. Chocolate and licorice aromas. Dry with sweet caramel and coffee upfront turning to burnt espresso in the lasting finish.

Bottle. Pours bright amber with small foamy off-white head, pumpkin aroma, medium carbonation, sweetish caramel taste with pumpkin flavor, medium bitter finish. Nice for a pumpkin beer.

Bottle pour at powder keg beer and chili festival. Aroma is hay, grass, herbs, pine/spruce. Appearance is cloudy yellow pour with finger width white head and nice lacing, no sparkle. Taste is mild corn chip with strong hop character--pleasantly bitter. Palate is light bodied with slick/slippery/silky texture (nice), average carbonation with long, wet, bitter finish felt at the back teeth. Overall, pretty much what you’d expect with strong hops but good variety to aroma.

Bottle pour at Powder Keg Beer & Chili Festival. Aroma is grassy, hay, hoppy scent. Appearance is yellow-green, slightly hazy, no sparkle, small white ring of head with attractive lacing. Taste is mild to moderately bitter balanced with mild sweet malts and citrus. Palate is light bodied with average texture and average carbonation. Overall, not a bad beer by any means but more bitter than I’d like, appearance is not terribly attractive, and palate is pretty meh.
