Couple sample glasses at Maple Leaf Tavern in Wilmington, VT.
The appearance was a dark brown color with a concave film of lacing around the glass.
The smell had sweet and roasty smooth coffee beans over top of delicate sweet cocoa powder.
The taste was mainly sweet through the previously mentioned flavors and lead to a nice rich sweet aftertaste running into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light allowing a silky texture all about.
Overall, what a wonderful coffee porter. Too bad, it’s getting retired. Oh well.

Pours dark mahogany into a snifter. Tan head with little retention recedes to mottle surface. Hot maple and oak aromas. Thick with hot syrup and caramel upfront turning to oak and toasted nuts in the lasting hot finish.

Pours a hazy copper/amber from a bottle with lots of floaties. Floral nose, similar flavor, very European tasting somehow. Good beer.

Pours a light amber from a bottle. Aroma of digestive biscuits. Flavor of honey covered biscuits, very smooth, lots of floral notes. Good beer.

Bottle from Bert’s Mostly clear deep copper with garnet highlights and a small but long lasting bubbly off white head. Sweet caramel sugary maltiness with just a hint of molasses and maple. Light fruity and earthy notes with just a hint of ash. Definitely sweet with a hint of warming alcohol. Nice sipper.

12 ounce can from Capone. Hazy golden, large foamy white head, good retention. Aroma of pale bready malt, tropical fruits. The taste is tropical fruits, lime zest, pale bready malt. Medium bodied, well balanced. Nice beer.

Clear, soft peachy apricot-colored body is topped by a small, rocky, white head that shows moderately strong retention.
Grassy, lightly citrusy hops in the nose also yield some perfume and floral notes, with a bit of grain in the background, a touch of oxidation, it seems and more herbs (oregano, thyme) on the end. A bit of yeastiness shows off some fruity esters and there’s a touch of pepper and dough. No alcohol noted.
Dry, quite a bit so, with grass, herbs and a grainy, almost husky malt character up front. It gains light pear, apple and lemon character, ending with just a passing bit of honey, some rather bland, almost oxidized, papery notes and a bit of juiciness coming on at the end from some danker, earthier hops. Pretty subdued. Low on the bitterness, but it’s almost too dry, exposing husk or oxidation, despite being assumedly fresh. Still, no off-flavors, nor alcohol and certainly not overdone with the bitterness or resin.

12 oz. bottle Dated 06/11/15 so near end of freshness range. Pilsner glass A;Poured a hazy dirty amber. Small head is gone quickly. Visible sediment seen in suspension. Not a really pretty beer to look at. S: Sweet orange is dominant in the light scent. T: It’s citrusy but definitely not sweet. Bitter pith hoppiness is crisp and followed by a bit of cracker at the finish. Not complex but pretty good and bone dry. A slight fruity tartness at the very end of the sip is surprising and a nice bonus. M: Medium light body with lively carbonation and clean dry finish makes this refreshing and drinkable. Not oily or particularly resinous. A brisk, stiff ale you can knock back all day. O: This beer smells inviting, tastes refreshing and flavorful, and feels great going down. Just started to see Otter Creek products in my area so I’m very pleased to recommend Over Easy to anyone looking for a new light ale. And this sixer is not even very fresh! I’ll be buying a lot of this.

Bottle. Village Market, Waterbury VT. Dark copper colour. Light haze. Slim halo of off white head. Nose is sweet and fruity, along the lines of a caramelised pear. Some syrupy berry fruits. Definitely maple syrup in there. Taste is mostly sweet, with some dryness. Light, woody bitterness. Rich, smooth mouthfeel. Drinks under the ABV. Long, fruity sweet finish. Touch of bitterness on the close.
