Description
In 1994 Nino Bacelle decides - after a lot of experimental brews - that he is ready to bring his own beer to the market. It’s the start of Brewery Nino Bacelle. In 1995 Nino meets Guido Devos through the beer tasters association HOP. Guido is a founding member of HOP and has been active as an amateur brewer for years. Nino and Guido decide to pool resources and knowledge and hereby “Brewery Nino Bacelle“ turns into Brewery De Ranke. This name refers to the vines on which the main ingredient for beer grows: hops. The beers are brewed at the Deca Brewery

In 2005, after 11 years of brewing at Brewery Deca, Nino and Guido decide to start their own brewery in Dottenijs.

Bottle shared. Bit hazy orange to red with small head. Light funk, crisp sour beer with a bit of funk and lemon, tons of fresh fruity grapes with a bit of strawberry and red currants. Medium sour, less bitter and even lighter sweet. Over light bodied. Quite nice, very drinkeable and fresh.

750ml bottle from House of Trembling Madness. It pours clear amber blonde with a handsome fluffy white head. The aroma is freshly baked goods, farmhouse style bread, biscuit, cereal, touch of nuttiness, candied lemon, lemon curd, pomelo, citron, toasty grains, grass and florals. The taste is super crisp, dry, snappy, pleasing grassy bitterness which lingers, woody, slightly herbal, waxy lemon peel, pithy, zesty, lemon curd, pomelo, fragrant, floral, nutty, cereal, hearty bread character and a touch of pepper with a drying, finish with lemon verbena. Average body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. The full package. Hearty, yet moreish. Flavourful and has a good depth for the style.

Aromas are malt, toast, hops, and the Belgian candy sugar effect. Flavors are similar to nose, bittersweet with a lingering sweetness from the candy sugar. Excellent carbonation and good body. Standard good Belgian beer but nothing too unusual. Very drinkable.

Color cobrizo, espuma blanca de retención media que recupera bien al mover la copa. Notas en nariz y en boca de levadura, granero, paja, pan, trigo, lúpulo, fruta de hueso y un toque especiado. Cuerpo medio crujientemente carbonatada, fondo dulce, final amargo y seco. Muy rica

Aromas are caramel malt, brett, oak, herbs and spices with some fruit. Flavors are somewhat similar to nose, moderately tart up front with a little sweet in back. Decent body and carbonation. Good but nothing too special.

0.33l bottle at Ambasada. Very dark brown-black body, lasting off-white head. Floral, herbal, bit soapy dry aroma, with the malty notes being primarily cocoa-like. Lean, dry taste, soft maltiness, the dark malts not being too complex, some floral-soapy hoppy touches, light phenolic notes. Not in the best of shapes perhaps.

Bottle at home in Alkmaar. Pours opaque golden with a thick white head. Aroma is sugars, peppery notes, some grass as well. Taste is light honey, candi, grassy notes, light phenols. Closes with a long lasting, dry and moderately bitter finish, grassy notes. Light bodied eith average carbonation. Maybe I should be turning to these dry, phenolic belgian pales more frequently?
