Description
In 1994 Nino Bacelle decides - after a lot of experimental brews - that he is ready to bring his own beer to the market. It’s the start of Brewery Nino Bacelle. In 1995 Nino meets Guido Devos through the beer tasters association HOP. Guido is a founding member of HOP and has been active as an amateur brewer for years. Nino and Guido decide to pool resources and knowledge and hereby “Brewery Nino Bacelle“ turns into Brewery De Ranke. This name refers to the vines on which the main ingredient for beer grows: hops. The beers are brewed at the Deca Brewery
In 2005, after 11 years of brewing at Brewery Deca, Nino and Guido decide to start their own brewery in Dottenijs.

Bottle: Poured a golden amber with white head. The aroma is floral and perfume. Taste was tart and hoppy. Not as bitter as I expected from the name and description.

Bottle: Hazy, amber coloured, small foamy layer; the aroma is a robust combination of a sweet fruitiness (oranges) and a distinctive peppery hoppiness; very strong sweet-bitter flavour, medium-bodied; orangey-fruity sweetish finish with an increasing aromatic hoppiness in the aftertaste; all in all a bit warming: A spicy, outstanding, well balanced Abdijbier with very pleasant hops..............

Bottle: Hazy, golden coloured, small, stable creamy off-white head; giant intensive floral to resinous hoppy nose, gulp...! Soft MF; the flavour is an explosion of dry bitterness; lingering floral-aromatic-bitter-dry finish, balanced by a little sweetness. Chapeau ! Beautiful ! Why can’t other belgian brewers use these beautiful hops..................

(Bottle) Clear red colour with frothy, but brief, pinkish head. Tart, acidic nose with cherries, red-currant and notes of almonds. Huge, tart, fruity taste with distinct cherry notes. Notes of almond in a very complex finish that combines the fresh tart fruitiness of the lambic and the more robust sourish notes of the flemish ale. Medium body, dry. Balanced, complex and lovely beer with a very fresh cherry character.

(Bottle 33 cl. Hazy golden with some impurities. Dense and stable white head leaving a handsome lacework. Fresh, citrusy aroma hops. Medium body with some sweetish, malty notes and then some rather distinct and refined hops that both leave a solid bitterness and a lightly soapy aroma. Quite delicate. 271206

(Bottle 75 cl) Nice, deep golden colour with a tall, gigantic, frothy almost fat head that’s almost impossible to keep down in your glass. Takes a long while before you can get to the beer! Hazy and fruity with some wheaty notes. Long spicy finish. The kind of beer that would probably develop very interestingly if stored. 270997

33 cL bottle. Pours orange with white head. Strange smell, sour and very little hops - it must be yeast. Reminds me a bit about champagne. Taste i sweet-sour. It changes much with the temp. initial colder beer had manu dark notes (unusual dark given the colour) which goes into more bitter-sour light notes as the beer warms up. Bitter and dry aftertaste. Not bad but not very christmassy
