Description
In 1994 Nino Bacelle decides - after a lot of experimental brews - that he is ready to bring his own beer to the market. It’s the start of Brewery Nino Bacelle. In 1995 Nino meets Guido Devos through the beer tasters association HOP. Guido is a founding member of HOP and has been active as an amateur brewer for years. Nino and Guido decide to pool resources and knowledge and hereby “Brewery Nino Bacelle“ turns into Brewery De Ranke. This name refers to the vines on which the main ingredient for beer grows: hops. The beers are brewed at the Deca Brewery
In 2005, after 11 years of brewing at Brewery Deca, Nino and Guido decide to start their own brewery in Dottenijs.

750mL bottle, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is full of tangy, musty white wine grapes, some leather, gentle acidity, and a hint of funk. Flavour is quite tangy and modestly acidic, with light lemon, white pepper, musty white wine grape skins, and a hint of funk. Doesn’t have the funk complexity that a top lambic would have. Drinks more like a tangy, slightly funky wild ale than anything lambic-like. Good.

(Bottle) Dark red colour with foamy, beige head. Fruity nose with red fruit, dark cherries, oak wood, caramel, grapes and a mild vinegar aroma. Fruity, malty, tart taste with red fruit, grapes, cherries, caramel, burnt sugar, oak wood, a mild vinegar taste and spices. Hardly any bitterness. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and well balanced Flemish bruin, with a mild woody acidity. Very nice.

Bottle: Poured a black color porter with a large brown foamy head with good retention with some lacing. Aroma of bitter and black chocolate notes with some light bitterness. Taste is also a mix of black chocolate notes with some light bitter notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Enjoyable Belgian porter but not breaking any new ground.

Pours hazy pale brown with a lacing head. Fruity aroma with notes of toffee and brown sugar. Flavour is more toffee and brown sugar with a growing leafy, hoppy bitterness at the end.

Oooo boy, that's some love. A real bitter boy, loads of funky goodness. Lots going on here. Unfortunately it was after some wine and palinka so I don't quite remember the subtle hints of this and that. I'd k*ll a president to try this on tap one day.
