[Another century celebrated with a Mikkeller beer - this time 9200] An unclear orange beer with a beige head. The aroma is extremely hoppy with notes of grapefruit and grass - just hops nothing else is evident to me. The flavor is even more extreme just being hops and being extremely bitter - some notes of grapefruit and grass - but mainly just bitter. I’m an admitted hophead - but this is just too much for me.

This one isn’t so great. Very mild hop aroma and hop flavor, and light, sweet malt. Very dry throughout. It lacks flavor and aroma.

Bottle. Nice big brown head with good duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are heavy with dark bitter chocolate, coffee and roast malt.

Pours dark amber with medium head. Hoppy aroma with raisins, toffe and yeast. Sweet hoppy and malty flavor that ends bitter. Alcohol is well hidden but warms you up nice in the end.

66 cL bottle. Pours hazy brown/amber with a light brown and dense head. The foam is leaving nice lacework on the glass as the glass is being emptied. Fruity and slight malty aroma with a minor woody note. Flavour starts fruity from the hops before the smooth chocolate malt takes over. Soon after this a more roasted malt profile turns up and way is given to a slight coffee note. Not much time is granted before a strong bitterness is breaking the malt flavours. A nice blend of malt and hops keeps lingering into the rather dry finish.

Bottled. Pitch black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is really coffeeish with some hops, roasted malts and burnt wood. Flavour is very pleasantly balanced coffee beans, yeast, roastedmalts and smoked wood. Aftertaste is acidic coffee with some mild spices and fruits.

Or maybe not. After three years, it’s showing signs of oxidation, especially in the flavour which seems more thin and dry than it should. Since the original 4.0 rating was to some degree based on potential, I don’t mind rating it down to 3.7 after not living up to the potential

2009: I said in my original 2007 rating that it needed aging. So let’s see how it is after 1½ years in the cellar. Pine hops and lots of alcohol in the aroma, like a nice hoppy sherry. Flavour is mellowed very little, it’s still aggressive, boozy and hoppy. Rating 4.0 both times.

Dark amber with a small, but lasting creamy off-white head. Really fresh, hoppy aroma: At first you think American Pale Ale, then you realize that there is a lot more power behind the pine and citrus. Caramel, dried fruits and a healthy dose of alcohol shows up after a swirl or two. Flavour is a bitter battle between alcohol and hops, with my tastebuds as the winner. It’s extreme, and will benefit from cellaring. In a few decades this will be the best 2007 beer in the world :)

Bottle at home (thanks yngwie) Deep solid black ... with a thick brown head ... toasted malts and dark chocolate nose ... Thiner than i expected ... but lots of coffee and roast malts ... suprisingly little bitterness...Little sweetness in front with a charcoal roast linger with a nice piney burst of hops. tk2 side with brew dog coffee. Nose is a bit smoother and more hoppy ... quite burnt coffee quite hoppy in back ground... but actually remarkarbly simelar

Bottled (BB 08/2011)
Opaque black (like a black hole), small expresso head. Coffeish, roasted aroma with licorice. Coffee beans, licorice, roasted malts. Dominating flavor is coffee. From the first sip alcohol hits to your face! Looooong roasted aftertaste. It is 13 % and it is easy to guess. Very warming, gimme my fireplace and glass of this stuff!

(Bottle 37,5 cl) Courtesy of Myrup. Clear, amber golden with a dense, off-white head leaving some lacework. Fat aroma of caramel and peaches. Very solid body, loads of caramel and fruity hops. The hops leave a very solid dose of bitterness in the finish where also the alcohol really shows. Good as it is but will probably improve for several years to come. Now we’re waiting for the "Worst" version... 051007
