Unclear orange with a small white head. Intense hop aroma, mostly of the citrus kind. Extremely bitter, with a long lasting, wonderfully painful lingering bitterness.

22.3 oz bottle - Rating #1000! I’ve been digging the stouts lately, so it seemed fitting to grab such a well regarded stout for the thousandth rating. It pours black with a big dark tan head. The aroma is of dark roast malt and plenty of coffee. The roast malt and coffee are well balanced in the flavor. Let it warm for awhile and enjoy the full bodied darkly roasted experience. It’s also got moderately strong hops that are even more apparent in the finish. This is not a sweet stout. I wouldn’t call it a terribly complex beer, but it sets out to be a coffee stout and it does that extremely well. Delicious! Now to celebrate with a bottle of Westvleteren 12!

(Bottle) Dark reddish amber colour, slightly hazy, with brief bubbly off-white head. Fruity nose with orange peel, grapefruit and loads of resin and pine needles. Underneath there are notes of slightly toasty, sweet caramel. Fruity, very hoppy taste with grapefruit, orange peel, pine needles, resin and thick, massive flavours of american hops in a long finish. Lots of caramel, malt sweetness shines through all the way. Full body, thick, almost oily mouthfeel. Massive, uncompromising IPA. Not for the weak hearted. Great beer!

Bottle: Pours a intense black color with a small tan head. Very little lacing. Nose is rich with coffee, roast, mocha, and hints of oats. The taste is a creamy blend of roast, coffee, chocolate, and light bitters. The coffee compliments the brew well rather than overpowering it.

Bottle placed into my brand new, shiny beer graile. I’m pretty excited about it and decided to break it in in style. Pour is really thick and blackish brown with a short-lived brown head that, with time dies down to a thin film on the surface with a few bubbles rising above the etched area on the bottom. Aromas are strongly charcoal-ish with lots of peat and espresso. Maybe there is a bit of an anise seed tilt to it, too. Mouthfeel is silky and exquisit. The smokey charcoal flavor leads the charge, but is quickly supported by some espresso, dark chocolate and peat... and I think that I’m picking up some of that anise in the background. Very smooth and I could probably drink several bombers of it before I realized what a bad idea that was. For a plain Jane stout, this is fantastic... I must say that, while at first I was a little disappointed (expecting some sort of trumpet blast or other sort of epiphany/divine experience and not finding it) this really grew on me as I worked my way through the bottle... take your time, enjoy it and let it air and warm.

Hazy green golden, off-white head. Light citrus & peach aroma. Citric and peachy hops dominate the flavor as well. Sparkly mouthfeel - feels lighter than it is. Very nice.

Spicy and earthy aroma - cinnamon, coffee and chocolate. Quite black in colour, foamy brown head. Coffee flavorbase, herbs - nice balance to the coffee bitterness. Mellow mouthfeel. Coffee-roast aftertaste.
