[Another century celebrated with a Mikkeller beer - this time 8900] Draft. A deep red-brown beer with a disappearing brown head. The aroma is sweet malty combined with strong notes of raspberries and wood. The flavor is a mixture of sweet and acidic with notes of raspberries and wood. For a lover of Flemish Sour beers this is lovely.

Okay, so I’m a bit late to the party with this one - that’s cool - at least I finally showed up - now where the bitches at? - this beer pours a thick, inky black, with a rather small ring of brown foam - decent, but fairly stereotypical aroma for a coffee stout (a nice balance of sweet cream, strong espresso and some burnt character) - nothing stand out enough to make me able to pick this one out of a line-up, but enticing none-the-less - medium-bodied brew, with limited carbonation enhancing a creamy mouthfeel - the flavor is much thinner than I expected - the beer tries to strike a balance between some oat/sweet stout character and a strong espresso bitterness, but the biterness winds up winning out, bringing with it some leathery and tobacco notes - luckly for the beer, I tend to like these things - the beer thins out a bit near the end, allowing some alcohol to become apparent - a good coffee stout, but not quite in the same league as Peche Mortel or Founders Breakfast.

Bottle, at RBESG 2007 in Glasgow, Grand Tasting. Hazy golden colour. Nice aroma of hops - spicy, oaky and fruity. Unfortunately I drank it too warm, but the flavour was still spicy and quite OK.
Rerate, 750 ml "champagne" bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.0%. Deep golden colour, slightly hazy, with a big and slightly off-white head. Lovely aroma of Amarillo and Cascade hops, with spicy and fruity (citrussy) notes, also hints of caramel. The flavour is spicy and zesty, with grapefruity hops but it is not too bitter. Hints of candi sugar and oak, but the beer is not sweet. Dry and slightly astringent finish. Alcohol is noticeable, but the beer is still dangerously drinkable for its strength. I’m upping it a point. In danger of repeating myself: Well done (again), Mikkel!

Bottled (BBE 2006)
Dark amber color, huge brown off-white head. Good American hoppy aroma which is a bit sweet. Yeasty, sweetish hoppy and flowery. Nice malty background, a bit crisp carbonation. Good balance. Tasty IPA.

Bottled. Reddish amber colour, huge beige foamy head. Huge flowery, fruity and grassy hops in the nose along with slight caramelly and spicy notes. Flavour is very much the same with a sting of alcohol and even mild licorace in it. Slight yeastyness showing once it gets a bit warmer. Long spiced, hoppy and slightly licoracyish aftertaste. Very pleasant.

[Another century celebrated with a Mikkeller beer - this time 8800] Draft. A hazy deep red beer with a thin pinkish head. The aroma is sweet with very strong notes of cherries, but also lighter notes of almond and a light acidity. The flavor has strong notes of cherries, combined with a light a acidity and light notes of almond, leading to a dry woody finish.
