Description
Bellwoods Brewery began as a small brewpub in the west end of Toronto in 2012, and underwent a couple modest growth spurts over the years to encompass two retail shops (selling fresh cans and bottles), and a production brewery in North York (mostly to house The Foeder Pyramid). These days, we produce about 18,000hL a year, which is a mere blip in the grand scheme of Ontario beer, but keeps us pretty busy. The styles we’re interested in brewing range greatly, and we always remain open to new ways of making beer. For the most part, our current efforts are devoted to aromatic hoppy stuff, crisp lagers, barrel aged wild blends, fruit-forward zingers, and the occasional barrel aged stout. There’s always a new, creative project waiting in the wings. We’re still a relatively small, collaborative team, forever dedicated to the pursuit of perfect beer–thanks so much for partaking in the fruits of our labour.

Dark brown. No head. Getting lots of vanilla on the nose, good quality chocolate, some dark sugars. I like the barrel character on there, soft, some coconut. Full body. Sticky dark sugars, with good vanilla.

500mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has plenty of bourbon barrels, lots of coconut, a touch of cocoa, and vanilla. Flavour is rich and complex, with big bourbon barrels, coconut, vanilla, and a touch of cocoa. Good mix of adjuncts, with the coconut upfront and the barrels accentuating everything beautifully. Excellent.

Dark brown. Thin head. There's a fair whiskey aroma, and then there's a soft brown sugar accent, light whiskey, with also some toasty accents. Well-balanced. Fairly light, but has good quality.
