Sampled at Vineyards in Ottawa, Ontaio. Pours a deep caramel-brown with light red highlights. The tanned head is medium size and creamy with decent retention, but leave a thick coating on the brew. Lots of yeast chunks are at the bottom of the glass. Good creamy lacing. Aromas of alcohol at first pour, but gone as soon. Light fruits like apples. Creamy and medium-light bodied. Taste starts off on a strong bite, but goes to a smooth bitterness finish. Found in the aftertaste are green apples and some mild dark fruits. Also, mild nuts. Quite refreshing and drinkability is excellent for this lighter Rochefort.

11.2iz bottle poured into official glass. Deep cherry red-brown color after mixing in the yeasty dregs. Head fades out into an oily lacing. Sweet, mellow dark fruit tones without and alcohol harshness to speak of. Deep candied plum and fig notes. The taste is sweet and malt centered, with a nice creamy, yeasty, mouthfeel. Brown sugar, with a lively raisin tartness. This beer is flat out phenomenal. One of the best Belgian Brown ales for sure. Some distant candy orange in the sticky aftertaste.

Good one, but there is nothing special to say about it. Fully diminishing fizzy head. Aroma is perfect: strong plum notes. Rich fruityness in the flavour, black currant also present but a little bit one-dimensional with this. Full and alcoholic body. It didn’t manage to hide the alcohol. Pungent palate.I’ve expected more from my 100th grade.

Pours a deep brown with ruby red highlights. Many sediments that are pale in colour are at the bottom. Carbonation is very lively with tiny bubbles. The tanned head is big and foamy-creamy with great retention and lacing. The smell is of apples and some hop mixed in. Notes of chocolat are way in the back. The mouthfeel is lighter than the Rochefort 10, but still has some hold on the tongue. The flavour is really complex. Starts off with some nuts, then, bitter chocolat, coffee, light fruit and spices. Bitter and dry. Wow ! I must say. Bought 6 more for the cellar.

This was my inaugural pour for my new Chimay goblet. At any rate, this beer pours a beautifully dusky brown with a calm head. It’s a nearly idyllic looking in the goblet. The beer looks substantive and earthy, like something that would be drunk at great feasts. The nose is wonderfully Belgian. There is some alcohol presence, which mostly serves the complex smells of fruits and malt. The taste is a highly refined caramel with an array of bitter and sweet fruits. The feel is lush and velvety.

The liquid is brown with some deep purple highlights. The head is a light beige and leaves excellent lacing. Brown sugar, dark stone fruits and Belgian earthy complexity. The flavors combine in a very appealing fashion. It’s a really great beer. There are just a ton of flavors. Lushly creamy and smooth. Warming.

33 cl bottle. Color: opaque reddish brown. Impressive tan head. The aroma is amazing: heavily malty, very spicy, fruity, slightly alcoholic. Taste: fruit, spices and alcohol. Well rounded and very complex. Warming finish. Very good drinkable. I love this beer
