Bottle. Cloudy dark brown color with a small thick head. Earthy aroma with a hint of alcohol also dried fruit and spices. Complex and very inviting. Flavor was fantastic! Dark fruits, sweet malts, juicy, complex and with some warming alcohol. Great mouth feel, smooth to drink. A fantastic beer!

Light but rich flavor--tons of fruit--cherries, other dark fruits. Sweet but controlled and balanced, with a bit sour as well. Really excellent--almost as well made as the stronger ones, though lighter and easy to drink. Under-rated, IMO.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a trappist glass. Pours a dark brown completely opaque with little head that disappeared quickly. Nice lacy and unbelievable mouth feel. The aroma is earthy with a hint of alcohol. The taste is wonderfully complex and is pretty easy to drink considering the ABV. The flavor is malt (tone is mostly molasses), dried fruit (tones of figgs, plums etc.), and a hint of spice. Best quad I have had.

Cloudy brown. Opens with a pop, enthusiastic tan head fades to a nice veil that laces. Dough, dark sugars, summer berries, citrus , raisins, white pepper. Very noticeable alcohol, but it’s not raw. Fruit and chocolate with some astringency on top of the sweetness. Remaining carbonation is perfect to bring lightness to the palate. Seems more about balance than complexity for it’s own sake. Finish is herbal with a touch of brandy. [4.1] I’d already given this a 5 for palate, but it certainly is spectacular in that regard. This time the finish seemed gently drying, allowing the various flavours to dance as they linger. [4.2]Drinking this a bit recently. And the last few I’ve had have had fine lasting heads. So just up on that score.

330mL bottle, pours a dark brown with a big beige head. Outstanding nose of black currant, raisin/other dried fruit and dough/yeast. Very, very complex flavour - raisins, plum and spices. Wonderful. My favourite Quad.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a trappist glass. Pours dark brown with big beige head and nice lacing. Nice high carbonation. In general the taste is complex, dark fruit and effervescent. In particular it has flavor tones of brown sugar, figs, and a hint of caramel. Alcohol is not that noticable, but does has a hint of harshness. A really good dark stong belgian ale.

Bottle. Poured a slightly cloudy muddy brown with a thick light brown head. Aroma has a hint of alcohol, but more present are notes of dark fruits (plums and raisins) as well as some caramel. Flavor presents many notes with only a bit of alcohol, most present are plum, caramel and hazelnut.

33cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. Muddy, treacle coloured with a dense beige head; complex aroma, port wine, blackcurrants, plums, richly roasted malts; at first, soft and syrupy in the mouth, heavily laced with rich fruity malts, but then suddenly sharp and penetrating; the finish is soft and fruity again, releasing alcohol pleasantly to warm the mouth, rather like a good sherry. An accomplished sipping beer.

Slightly musty brown sugar aroma with milk chocolate undertones. Cloudy ochre with chunks, enormous tan head. Hyperalcoholic feel to it. Dusty pear flavor with a chestnut finish. I completely poured it wrong but aside from that, this was quite enjoyable. Not terribly complex and the alcohol was obtrusive, but it still tasted good.

33cl bottle from Alko. Dark brown with at big, beige thick head. Aroma is mostly chocolate and coffee. Very complex flavor, caramel, plums and malt. Sweet warm finish. I think I enjoyed mine little too cold, hence a hard time to notice all the aroma.
