FRESH: Pours copper/ruby with a large but rapidly diminishing head.Aromas of vanilla, honey, cinnamon, pears, yeast. Very perfumy. Bready, sweet cookie dough. Alcohol is just noticeable as a pleasant, slightly spicy note. Later on figs/prunes and caramel become apparent. There is so much going on here!Similar flavours, but not as much complexity. Alcohol is much more apparent, especially in the harsh finish.Carbonation is too high for my liking, but otherwise mouthfeel is good.Absolutely fantastic aroma, it’s a pity this didn’t follow through to the flavours.AGED (3 years): Amazing aroma as before, more concentrating on honey, toffee, caramel, and chocolate though. Very complex. Flavours seemed to have dried out, but the alcohol is reasonably well integrated now.

Sweet fruity aroma: raisin, chocolate, dried persimmons, licorice. Very complex and fruity. Flavor: nutty caramel, figs, raisins, cinnamon? Alcohol. Sweet but alcohol balances, plus a bit of burnt malt. Full but rather light in the mouth, and very fizzy. Bittersweet burn left after the swallow. A delight, as always, though I prefer it a little better aged. It was still a little young and harsh, with very strong alcohol. .

Re-Rate: Bottle. Very dark brown with tiny off-white head. Aroma is malt, yeast, dark fruits, plume and chocolate. FLavour is malt, dark fruits, medium sweet, plume and chocolate. 33cl bottle. Murky brown body with medium size tan head. Flavour is malt, yeast, sweet and fruit.

Amber / light brown color, solid off white head with nice flowery smell - Very nice malty taste, fuity taste from hops, the high alcohol level very nice hidden - very nice and complex beer with a long lasting aftertaste

Pours a beautiful dark red-dark brown into a Belgian chalice. Nice sweet aromas. Tastes like oak and cherry. Very smooth finish with an ever so slight hint of alcohol at the end. Nearly perfect.

The world’s perfect dark beer in every way - including distribution. Great nose, great look, brilliant warm taste of dark fruitiness and wood. Excellent mouthfeel.

Bottle 33 cl. Apperance; Dark brown with a nice rocky but small lightbrown head. Nice fruity, dried fruits, sweet malty. Flavor; Sweet malty, fruits and alcohol(almost too much). F... too cold, I’ll wait few min. Aha, much better flavor! Less alcohol flavor, more and more taste! Plum and dark grapes.

Bottle 33 cl. Apperance; brown and a little reddish, hazy with a nice offwhite head. Aroma; very fresh and fruity. some sence of citrus. Flavor; again, very fruity, lots of sparkling in my mouth, and again a small sence of citrus. Nice and fresh bitter aftertaste.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours dark plum / brown with a firm off white head. Aroma of dark fruits, banana, yeast and some alcohol. Tastes of caramel, banana and malt.

Weak but nice aroma of malt, wood, lemon, pine, and thistle. Well balanced and complex. Muddy brown, with a thick firm tan head. Musty old flavor of candied pears, toffee at midpalate, perfect balance. Chestnuts appear when warmer. Nice transitions. Alcohol noticeable, but feels much less than it is. Faint thistle finish playfully comes and goes. Remarkably well conceived and made. It would probably pair well with strong cheeses. Who could not like this one?
