Description

Bottle picked up at Sulzbergerbierhaus, Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm and consumed at home Friday 3rd February 2023, we are cooking Hunters Chicken tonight which is probably just Chicken Cacciatore. Listening to Steve Lamaq on 6Music. Pours warm gold, excellent clarity with a white head. Soft mouthfeel, sweetness, malty with a little bit of oomph but not at all boozy. A little bit of bitterness, a flinty bite. This is pretty good.

Darught, as simply Vollbier. Pours mostly clear, dark golden or light amber, and a steady dense off white heat with reasonable retention and good lacing. Aroma's are malty, a bit dusty. Retronasal it's malty, grainish, sweetish. Flavour is light moderate sweet with a hint of bitter. Light bodied. Very soft carbonation. Light bitter finish.

Süffiger, süß getreidiger Beginn. Geringe bis keine Herbe, erfrischend, rund. Einfach, dennoch würzig, mittellanger Abgang, getreidig bleibend, gut. 8/10/9/8/9/9

Bottle: Clear, deep golden, small - quite stable - white foamy layer, moderate sweet honeyish aroma with some fruity spots, mild traces of alcohol detectable; moderate sweet and mildly bitter flavour; soft and a bit sticky, medium to full bodied; shorter sweet honeyish-malty finish with a delicate bitterness in the aftertaste. Nothing wrong with it, just a bit too much on the sweet side...

Bottle from Hausmann. Light amber with small head. A bit too much caramel, light vegetal notes, not ideal but drinkable.

Bottle from Raynville Store. It pours clear lager yellow with a dissipating white cap. The aroma is soft, clean, grassy hops, leafy, sweet doughy white bread, rich tea biscuits and cereal. The taste is crisp, dry, snappy, clean, simple, grassy, straw, leafy, doughy white bread, grain and just a touch of spice with a shortish, dry finish. Average body and fine, prickly carbonation. Simple and quenching. Not too shabby.

Fläschla (als Staafelder Osterhäsla; fränkisch für Steinfelder Osterhäschen): Deep golden, clear, creamy and stable off-white head, lazy but visible carbonation, sweetish rural-grainy nose with a toasty touch and ; with delicate metallic traces; mild sweetish-bitter flavour, quite light bodied, soft; mildly lingering and drier bitter and toasty finish. Well, not earth-shaking, but quite OK...
