Description
Temporal Artisan Ales is a brewing project that is crafting delicate oak-aged beers in a shared space at Luppolo Brewing Company in Vancouver, BC. The beers we create are fermented 100% in our oak barrels over lengthy periods of time, imparting delicate complexity. Portions of separate barrels are blended to enhance specific characteristics unique to each barrel. Every beer we release has been meticulously crafted from start to finish.

Dull and flat, I guess like lambic. No head. On the nose, lots of barrel and tartness, and it's quite bracing on the palate. The citrus elements don't stand out in terms of knowing what they are - they're a bit understated. I like the beer, as a woody sour ale, though, and of the treatments arguably the tequila barrel comes through a bit more.

Pours with a pale amber colour, touch of haze, and not much head. The aroma has the usual acidic woody Temporal character, along with mellow fruity hops and stone fruit notes. On the palate, a sweet kiss first, bright apricotty notes, a bit of lactic, a touch of hop bitterness. The balancing sweetness is fun. The strata terpenes aren't as spectacular as the sauvin ones are, but still possess an entertaining brightness.

375 ml bottle. Pours a hazy pink with light head. Aromas of of bretty red berries, grapes and wheat. Flavors of tart red berries, sour gummy bears, cranberries, and sharp wheat. Not overly sour; just right.

Bottle pour at Weathered, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is full of acidity, perfumey notes, and subdued stone fruits. Flavour is moderately acidic, with faint tart stone fruits, vinegar, and a little oak. Acidic and thin, with not much fruit character. The hops are pretty subdued. And there is generally not a whole lot of complexity. Not my favourite from Temporal.

On tap at Luppolo, pours a cloudy dark bright reddish pink with a small pink head. Aroma reveals intense berries and currants upfront, with plenty of red wine barrels pummelling through. Flavour is intense, with lots of red wine barrels, alcohol, and fruity berry notes. Fairly harmonious, but the acetic character tickles the nose hairs a bit—a little harsh. Fun stuff.
