Description
Temporal Artisan Ales is a brewing project that is crafting delicate oak-aged beers in a shared space at Luppolo Brewing Company in Vancouver, BC. The beers we create are fermented 100% in our oak barrels over lengthy periods of time, imparting delicate complexity. Portions of separate barrels are blended to enhance specific characteristics unique to each barrel. Every beer we release has been meticulously crafted from start to finish.

Green apple and light funk. Cloudy gold with a small white head. Soured fruit, touch of stone fruit and a decent finish.

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy dull golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out some rotting funk, grassy notes, and some tart stone fruits. Flavour reveals plenty of rotting funk, ugh; followed by sour, rotting fruits, vegetal notes, and green apple. There's some wood, but it's buried. Not too pleasant.

375mL bottle, pours a cloudy dull golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of gin barrels upfront, with light bourbon and tart citric. Flavour is along the same lines, with tart citrus, gin barrels, and a touch of bourbon. Gin-dominated and quite tart. Unusual but decent.

Bottle from Luppolo, Vancouver
Cloudy blond colour with medium head, not very persistent. Strong aroma, there's manure, sulfur, and light vanilla/botanicals; later, I get a touch of biscuity malts. Dry mouthfeel, the acidity is pronounced but not excessive; light and crisp malt base, moderate funky character; despite the bourbon being the minority in the blend, it seems to dominate, with vanilla candy notes; some wood, and some creamy notes (like an oaked Chardonnay).
Excellent.

500ml bottle at Alex's. Appearence: hazy pale golden with a white head Aroma: a bit odd as it doesn't look like that botanicals from the gin are a good combination with bourbon, some creamy notes Taste: taste has much more bourbon notes with some sweetness and acidity Overall: looks like the combination of bourbon (that I love, especially the one that is used) with a gin and in the sour beer does not really work for me. I have a dissonance of using bourbon barrels that are like a dessert stuff for me in a sour beers. I am also wondering how only 15% of bourbon in the mix of the beer brought it that far to the bourbon side in flavour. It's interesting and unusual.

Bottle. Hazy dark blonde. Thin head. The nose is quite buggy, lacto and brett, and there's a nice bit of tequila accent in there as well. This has a lot of lactic acid, some sweet malt and tequila influence. But overall it's quite tart. I find the bugs are more gentle on the palate - the brett at least - but the barrel lends a nice influence to the finish.

2019-01-26, bottle, 7-4-7-2-14=33 Cloudy dark blond colour. The aroma is perfumy, almost vanilla; strong 'wild' yeast character, barrel, some fruit. Very sour, sharp, lightly fruity, sour apricot. It's a bit better than the time I had in on tap, but once again the acidity is unbalanced, excessive, and there is not much complexity. 2019-01-16, draught at Luppolo, Vancouver, 6-4-6-2-11=29 Hazy blond colour. Moderate notes of acetic acid in the aroma, that get stronger in the flavour; moderate aroma of wine barrels; very light aroma of fruit stones; light flavour of sour (green) apricots; hint of acetone in the finish. Puckery, unbalanced, too sour and without enough complexity to make up for.

Bottle, purchased at Luppolo. Dullish tan, and hazy. Thin head. I'm pulling a bit of brett C on the nose, along with some bourbon elements, and almost a coffee-ish note. Again, coffee up front, then tartness, woody barrel, vanilla, and a brett C note. Some sort of hard cheese. This is a really crazy blend, with unique elements you don't often get in this type of beer. In truth, those darker coffee elements (described as chocolate on the label) might have been better served in a dark blend, but ok.
