Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Medium head with medium duration. Color is yellow. Aroma and taste are fruits, malt and hops. Nice bitter finish.

[375ml bottle; gift from my wife who got it from the brewery shop] Oddly (see Fin’s comment, I had this one just before the Lovibonds 69. Not convinced that being wrapped in a bit of paper justifed the price this was sold at, but as it was a gift I can’t complain! It pours a pale gingery amber colour with a large, lasting off-white head. Aggressive initial carbonation soon declines to leave a pleasantly resinous, decadent mouthfeel (still with a nice mouth-coating tingle) that seems suitably luxurious for a 30th Anniversary ale. The flavour is not quite up to the mouthfeel though - a farmyard taste at first with hints of pine and lemon coming through later, along with a vague herby mintiness. Nevertheless, it’s a decent effort, and I wish Chiltern all the best for the next 30 years!

Cask @ GBBF 2010, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.Clear medium yellow color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, light to moderate hoppy, citrus. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, malt mash, thin. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100805]

Bottle that I bought from the Farmers Bar at The Kings Head, Aylesbury, Bucks, 31.12.10 consumed 02.01.11 I tried this straight after the Lovibonds 69 I suppose I was having a little UK IPA taste off. This was an altogether more subtle affair. The nose was dusty hops. Taste gets a little getting to know, its a stately rather reserved sort of IPA, it really took some time for the hops and flavour’s to come through, they eventually did with some lemony hops starting to leave a buzzy bitterness in the mouth. I liked it but it just wasn’t as good as the Lovibonds 69 IPA. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

Cask gravity at GBBF 2010. Pale gold, thin white head. It’s an ok golden ale, some biscuit, some bitterness. It’s fine, some lemon. OK, touch of perfume on aroma. Fine.

Cask gravity at GBBF 2010. Copper colour with lasting beige head. Some caramel and lasting biscuit flavour. It’s a tasty session bitter with a touch of herby hop. Decent.

[500ml bottle, gift from my wife - cheers!] Deep brown-black with a large beige head. Creamy smooth mouthfeel, flavour dominated by milk chocolate with raisins nestling behind, and just a vague hint of spiciness (ginger?). There’s little bitterness; it’s more like a mild than a stout and if you think of it as a mild it’s rather a good one. Maybe just a tad thinner than I’d like, but enjoyable nevertheless.

Aroma is light moderate malty, toasted, light moderate hoppy. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, dry, dusty.
