[Bottled] Pale nut brown. Sweetish and nicely roasty with fairly hard but rounded mouthfeel. Some caramel and butterscotch. Fairly low bitterness. Light for a porter.

Bottle, 25-03-06 picked up a mixed case from the brewery on Thursday, slowly getting through them. Hazy warm golden colour, small white head, and had a yeasty smell. Slightly citrus tang and a little hoppy, this didn’t really strike me as a barley wine and actually wasn’t as good as their ’Bodger’s’. Ok but not worth £6.95 or whatever it cost me a bottle.

Bottle, 25-03-06 picked up a mixed case from the brewery on Thursday, slowly getting through them. A fair enough beer but as barley wines go nothing special, very malty and it has that sticky sweet feel to it. I thought it lacked in depth of flavour and whilst I prefered it to some of their others no of them have jumped out at me.

Bottle, 25-03-06 picked up a mixed case from the brewery on Thursday, slowly getting through them. Amber coloured easy drinking beer, hoppy nose, better than the 300’s and Porter but still only decent.

Cask at Merton Beer Festival Sept’ 2004. Warm yellow colour, without any head. Somewhat lacking in the flavour Department, a little bit dry not much bitterness, but I suppose could be regarded as quite refreshing. Not bad but nothing special.

Bottle, 24-03-06 picked up a mixed case from the brewery yesterday. Dark Amber Ale with decent frothy white head. Quite a smooth beer with a some bitterness that stays, write up suggests maybe roast chesnut flavours but I didn’t get those, finish was a litle dryand lingering. Can’t make my mind up whether I prefered this or the porter, not much in it.

Bottled. 23-03-06 Purchased from the brewery along with a few others. Ruby red colour with small white head. Some chocolate and coffee smells, didn’t find the sharpness that others noticed in fact thought it to be quite smooth some malty and roasty flavours, not bad but then not really very porterish.

Bottle at London Gathering Nov 05. Dirty gold colour which was cloudy too. Thin beige head. Sour nose, bit funky with farmyard notes and really quite unpleasant. However it is only slightly sour in the moouth with sweetish alcohol (thanks Duff for pointing this out) and a hoppy finish. Extremely unusual beer for an English brewer. Seemed expensive for what it was.
