Description
We are George and Tom Jenkinson, brothers and directors of our family run brewery. Founded in 1980 by our father and mother, Richard and Lesley Jenkinson, we remain the oldest independent brewery in the Chiltern Hills and Buckinghamshire.

Located on an old working farm in the heart of the Chiltern Hills, the emphasis has always been to produce natural, wholesome beers using the best, class A malt and hops sourced in England. Our brewing process mirrors age-old methods and our beers are brewed with skill, passion and integrity. We have always been proud to support British farmers and all of our ingredients have a good provenance.

Cask, handpump at The Kings Head, Aylesbury, Bucks 14.09.11 Pours amber, good clarity with a white head. Nice beer, bitterness was more pronounced than expected and this didn’t carry quite the sweetness that I anticipated, other than that I was in a rush, so very lazy review. However a nice beer. 330ml Bottle - Brown with some red tinges. Blackcurrant, dried fruit and malt in the aroma. Roasted, chocolatey and slightly sweet taste with notes of roasted malt and coffee. Almost a year out of date, but it’s still drinking well.

Bottle at home in London. Pours brown with a foamy, light tan head. Aroma is light cocoa, semi-dark malts and faint berries. Medium sweet flavor, some dark malts, mild roast, hints of alcohol. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Mostly sweet finish, light earthy bitterness, subtle roast. Very average overall.

Tastes of dark fruit, malty, caramel, spice, quite sweet, a hint of rum. Love the bottle and the beer inside is quite good too.

On cask, gravity at Banbury Beer Festival, 07.05.11 Golden in colour this is just a simple refreshing session bitter, the sort of thing that Chiltern excel at. Touch biscuity at times with a hint of vanilla in the background, its smooth, lightly fruity and very decent. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov12 3.3
